Hi Bees,
I am trying to book a hair stylist & MUA ASAP (procrastination is a terrible thing!) Anyway I have been calling around and the compnay which I like best also seem super expensive ๐ They charge $500 for hair and Make Up for the birde and $100 per service for everyone else, this includes travelling to the getting ready location – is this as expensive as I think it is or is it the norm bearing in mind I am in uber expensive NYC?

I don’t know about NYC, but my hair and makeup will be $150 and that’s for someone traveling to me. Maybe you should call around and see how much other places charge? It helps if you have other quotes to compare with.

My hair and make-up is going to be $260 total, but that includes the trial, as well as day-of! I also saw a lot of places where the bridal package was like $500! I just couldn’t do that. I am going to a salon.

$250-$375 is pretty standard in central Virginia for onesite hair and makeup with trials. We are an hour from a major city, but we are where many people come for destination weddings (lots of vineyards and history residences).

My hair: trial $35 day of $70 (not including tip)
my make up was very expensive. So mad I went with such an expensive artist. I paid a $100 deposit. $90 trial and $90 day of (not including tip)

My hair was $50 at the salon, plus tip. Same for my BMs. My makeup was $175, which included a trial-run. Makeup for my BMs was $65.

I just saw this link: http://www.refinery29.com/best-makeup-studios-in-new-york
You definitely might save money if you go to the salon instead of having a hair and makeup artist do it on site.

Living near boston, it would cost 500 to have someone do hair and makeup at my house. I found a Mary Kay woman to do my makeup for free after a $40 purchase or a $40 fee to her. I am having my mom or a friend do my hair.
I just can’t spend more than 200 for makeup and hair, it’s really pointless to me and I can’t find anyone I like that’s cheap enough.

My trial is $110, and day of is $110 again. $500 seems wildly expensive to me!

I lucked out, my stylist is a friend and a guest so the bridal party is getting their hair done as a wedding present. And we are doing our own make-up.

I live between LA and Orange County in CA. I found someone to do my hair and makeup foor $400. There are others that cost like $300-375, but since I fell in love with her work a few years ago..and I trust her, I decided to still go with her. For my bridesmaids she usually charges $150 (75 each service) but since I booked 4-5 BMs she gave me a rate of $130 (65 each servcie). I saved up all this money for my dress and bought a dress that ws 1/3 my dress budget. So I decided I could use it on Hair and Makeup, accessories, my bouquet, etc.
I guess the best thing to do ask your friends who they used so they can refer you. or Google them of course.

I’m in the greater LA area and mine will be 300 for day-of makeup and hair, 125 for trial makeup and hair, and 145 for each Bridesmaid or Best Man. (kinda pricey for the BM’s imo, but I don’t want them to have the option of getting theirs done so I am paying for it)
