The Justice of the Peace that we are using was $125 – I think there’s usually a state minimum that they have to charge you that you can probably look up.

I think the answers here are going to depend a lot on the type of officiant and geograpical area.

I’m in Maryland and we’re using a private offciant, not associated with a church and not a JOP. Her fee is $450.

Our friend is officiating our wedding for free, but we’re going to get him a nice gift – probably something between $100-$150 (I’m not sure what we’re getting him yet…)

Our minister is kind of an acquaintance of my Fiance, so we asked him to marry us.  When I asked him what he charged, he said nothing because he didn’t want cost to hinder the ability of people to get married.  We are going to give him $100 at the wedding though.  Others I looked at before him ranged from $125 up to $350.

My brother is actually going to be our officiant so we are paying for his tux – he wanted to wear one. And then we are probably going to get him a gift card to somewhere.

Free! My dad is doing the ceremony. I had no idea they were so expensive.

Ours is free (family member!) but at our venue, the cost there is $100.  The Justice of the Peace I used in MI for my first marriage (divorced a year later) was under that, since it was at the court house.

The fees vary from place to place, I think.

We’re giving the use of a cabin to our family member so he’ll have his own “place” to crash.  (believe me, that alone -if it weren’t part of our package- would be more than the fee at the venue! LOL!)

I think our rabbis don’t charge since we’re members of the congregation, but my parents are planning on giving them $500. Mom’s dad was a rabbi so that’s her impression of what rabbis get paid. I would expect to pay based on how much time they spend with you planning, counseling, etc.
