This is a great planner to see what you need to do and if you are on the track you need to be.
I often see people (myself included) making decisions that greatly affect their future without considering the true long term consequences. Not saving enough early can be detrimental to your future years.
I am feeling pretty good we are on the right track. We are 99% likely to make our goal and 50% likely to far break our goal.

Would be nice if this link broke out how it calculated it’s results. I’ve done similar speadsheets on my own with my estimations on portfolio growth, raises, vs inflation and expenses and determined that at the pace we’re going we’ll be more than ready to retire by 60, and hopefully quite a bit sooner than that, but we’ll have to see in a decade or 2 how things really pan out. This site seems to agree saying that there is 100% chance of us hiting our goal.. woohoo!

There is a 99.74% that I will reach my retirement goal, I feel pretty good about those odds.

Damn my last post never appeared…
Anyway I was saying
@pinkshoes: We came across this because DH’s calculations were nearly twice what this said we needed and I thought his was insanely high even with time value of money. I like these numbers better 🙂
We did low ball some stuff to account for unpredictability because we cant tell how they predict markets and change in jobs/job loss etc. I wish we did have more info how they calculate it, but this one seems to have more details they require then many I have seen

I love trying different calculatros. FIRECalc (http://firecalc.com/) is a very comprehensive model.
99.72% to retire at 50/52!
I had to lump several other accounts into the last section – not sure if that did it right though.

Uhmmmm…..re-what? Pretty sure we’ll be working until we die.

99.78% chance we’ll make it! And that’s just with our employer’s 403B plan….we’re so young (22 and 24), we haven’t even invested anything else yet. Glad to see we’ll still make it if we’re consistent!
