About 1.5x his monthly.  That didnt matter to us though, it was more important to me what we had saved and would have left over after the ring.

The ring was $5040. According to this calculator, he was supposed to spend $6833.33! I got ripped off! Maybe I should sue.

He paid for it, so I’m not exactly sure.  I know how much he makes, so to ballpark it probably around 1.5 – 2 months salary.

I remember reading that in a magazine and just about had a heart attack! I would never have allowed him to spend that much.  We did end up spending more than I originally decided (but less than what he decided), which is less than a month salary. Either way, I’m so happy with it!

Less than a month on both rings.  Honestly could not see us spending more… we don’t have it and it’s just silly with everything else we hae to pay for.  I had set a budget of $500 for all 3 rings (my e-ring and our wedding bands). However we ended up spending less for 4 rings (2 e-rings for me, and the 2 bands.)

Mine was about $3500, so about two weeks of his salary (or a week of ours combined – we make about the same). If we went by the 3 month thing? I can’t even imagine wearing a nice CAR on my finger. And I absolutely adore my ring.

He spent about 2 months of his salary on my enagement ring. My wedding ring was about 1 week’s salary for him.

Less than one month of salary. 6% of our yearly.

@EffieTrinket:  According to that calculator we should have spent $20k, hahaha, yeah, my ring isn’t even close. 🙂

    Well, let’s see.

We didn’t come up with a budget.  We went shopping and then looking online.

I decided what I wanted, he paid for it.

He never told me not to go over a certain amount, he just wanted me to be happy.

Pit ended up being like a half months earnings from our business.

Mine spent less than $1000 on my ring, with shipping, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.. It was less than 1 month’s salary

My hubby never thought about the salary aspect but what he thought we could afford (for my upgrade – first ring was family ring).  My ring was about $3500 and it is about what he makes a month as a teacher.

Fiance still went into the 3 figures but he spent less than one paycheck on my ring.

@GroovyHippieChick:+1    I’m not old but I’m older than him and decided that his budget for my ring was too much.  his orinal budget was twice what I originally was going to spend before my asha.  his original was almost two months.

A month. I like pretty things, but he knew I would be sad if the price of the ring compromised our future.

I don’t think this salary calculation is all that rational or accurate because while my Darling Husband makes a nice salary, he also has to cover our living expenses (e.g. rent, utilities), his car payment, student loans, and some of our date night expenses. So for him to squirrel away 3 months worth of salary, pay for all this AND continue to save for our future and a downpayment, it will take a while. I think we spent probably 1.5 months worth of his salary (possibly a little more), but the thought that a man has to spend $x equal to 3 months’ pay didn’t cross our minds.

my e-ring cost in the 4 digits, less than a month’s salary but it was still a painful amount of money for him, especially since I hadn’t started working yet.
