Between Fi going to sleep first (he gets up at 4am) and our Boston Terrier, I end up with about 30% of the bed. I’ve learned to sleep curled up around our dog, which probably isn’t great for my back. Even if I move him, he comes back up when I’m sleeping and wedges his head onto my pillow.
What about you?

I’d say it’s close to 50/50 for us.
If it became an issue I’d close the door on the dog.

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: I was about to say the SAME THING! We have a king size bed, and I have no idea what we did before then. Ozzy loves to curl up right beside me (and he’s not a small dog) and FH sleeps all over the place! I used to hate being touched when I slept, but now… I deal with it. I’m normally cuddling with Ozzy’s ass or FH’s elbow!

We just have a full size bed right now. My fiance is 6 foot 5, I’m 5 foot 5, and I take up more than my 50%. How bad is that?!

@Summy00: bahahaha… I cuddle Charlie too, and end up holding Fi’s wrist or hand.
@kala_way: there’s no way we would close the door on Charlie… he’s slept with us since he was a baby–on the floor in his own bed, and now he just jumps up. We’re dog people…

@babylou: Just a full–how do you do it??? I was just talking to Fi about getting a king-sized bed. We’ll probably do it this summer *fingers crossed*

We have a king size bed. While Fiance works nights, I take over half the bed, when he comes home to sleep he takes over the complete bed. Like seriously by the time I go to bed, it looks like a tornado went through it lol…

when our dog slept on our bed, I’d say I got about 30-40%. My Darling Husband got 50 and me and the dog shared my side. I think I kicked him less so he settled on my side haha. It was kinda sucky. But (for totally unrelated reasons) we had to train our dog to not sleep on the bed anymore (which was actually shockingly easy, he sleeps next to it on a blanket now) and we do 50/50.

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: When I first moved in with Fiance, we shared a single bed… haha we slepd in that little tiny bed for over a year… and then came the kind size bed and WOW!!! Fantastic!

@couawilou: I’m so jealous of people with king beds!
I actually like having Charlie on the bed bc Fi leaves so early, and I’m left by myself til about 6am. 🙁

Has anyone seen the (now canceled) show Perfect Couples? Honestly I’ve only seen the first episode, but the opening sequence was hilarious because that was us to a ‘T’…
Basically, in the sequence, it shows the three central couples, and the girls are all hogging the space (much funnier when viewed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w00HX77rhb8.
I take up a lot of room AND I steal the sheets. Usually it starts because I like to lay close to him and rest my head on his chest. Eventually he gets moved more toward his edge of the bed.
Then 6 am comes and my cat’s internal alarm clock kicks in. He starts meowing and either 1) he will jump in bed and situate himself between us or 2) he will meow for too long, Fiance will get up and pick the cat up and put him on the bed, and the cat will take up even more room settling down, thus pushing Fiance over further.
Either way, poor Fiance. At most, he gets 10% of the bed.

I get about a third because one of our cats likes to strech out.

Fiance and I used to have a full – I seriously have NO idea how we slept on the same bed. I did sleep on my side a lot, and made my shoulders really sore 🙁
We upgraded to a king in October – best money I’ve spent in a LONG time! I still only get about 30% of the bed, but we make it work. We do have to rotate the mattress more often now, though, because we sleep so still now and make ‘dents’ where we sleep. Still worth it 🙂

@couawilou: A SINGLE bed? Really? How did that work? Battle wounds? Black eyes. WHOA.
@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: We are definitely dog people. We kennel trained Ozzy for the first 7 or 8 months, and I was in Kentucky (for a family emergency) and I came home and FH had a new bed buddy — he said he couldn’t stand sleeping alone!
Ozzy is our fur-baby, FOR SURE. I’m already freaking out not knowing what we’re going to do with him during the wedding – he can’t be in it:( and how bad I’m going to miss him when we’re on our honeymoon.
As I type, he has his head laid on my leg in the chair:)

- Wedding: March 2012 - Father's Vineyard Church/ A Touch of Class Banquet Center
We have a queen. I probably get about 60, Fiance gets about 35, and Smudge (our kitty) gets about 5. I also hog all of the blankets. I”m a horrible Fiance 🙂
