We have a VERY generous family (truely wonderful) and so we got practically everything off of our registries. Our Macys registry and Target one are completely wiped out and the only thing left on our online registry is a nice lens for our SLR camera. We had a shower in Albany with my family/friends and a shower in IN with my wife’s family/friends.

Just hosted a beautiful bridal shower for my sister roughly 45 guest she gor almost everything from her plus. Plus a few things she didn’t register for. The norm around here is gifts from the registry at the shower and cash at the wedding.

I wouldn’t be having a shower as I think they are a bit greedy. [I’m sorry, just my opinion!]. I’ll be more than happy with whatever I get at my wedding. If I got nothing at all i’d still be happy. I got married, that was the whole point of the wedding!

We received almost everything off of our registries. We had about 200 things on one and 20 or so on the other. Maybe less, it wasn’t a lot. We received most of our gifts before the wedding, some at my bridal shower and mostly money and envelopes at the wedding. We were careful to put mostly things we needed on our registries, which is part of the reason we got so much.

@lealorali:  I was meant the shower itself, not the wedding registry. I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. I think the showers are greedy, not the wedding [for the ceremony] registries.

I got married in September and had my bridal shower in July which was thrown for me by my mom and bridesmaids. We received almost everything from our registries. We have quite generous family and friends, we’re very blessed. We are saving for a house so alot of our gifts our in storage right now but I can’t wait to open everything once we move. It will be like Christmas lol. We were registered at Macy’s, Bed Bath & Beyond and Crate & Barrel.

I had a bridal shower about 2 months before the wedding and our wedding is next weekend. We received everything, but 3 things from both of our registries. Most people give money for weddings here too.

@jenilynevette:  Having a shower seems so awkward and wrong to me, but it was deeply concerning to people around me that I wasn’t interested. It seemed easier to just go with it, and it’ll be a nice chance to meet people I don’t know already who will be coming to the wedding. I get where you’re coming from though, it feels like a grown woman throwing herself a birthday party and expecting gifts.

We received pretty much everything we wanted between the shower and wedding. I got waaay more gifts at the shower though because most people brought cards to the wedding.

@jenilynevette:  I agree. No shower for me. If people really want to give us a gift, we’ll accept it at the wedding itself. I’m not even sure if we’ll register…

@SquidWeds:  My entire family has been on my back about having a shower. Even though the know my reasons as to why I don’t want it, they just can’t get over the tradition. Some days, like you said, it feels like it would be easier just to do it… lol
