(Closed) How much of your registry did you actually receive? Did you have a shower?

I was dead set against not including registry info in my invites (either on shower invites or wedding invites) and it bit me in the butt.  I really wanted stuff off our registry, and people thought by not putting registry info I either wanted cash or wasn’t registered.  No one really looked at our wedding website to see I had it listed there.  If I were to do it again, I’d list my registry info!  People want to give you a gift, afterall!

@lealorali:  I know – which is why I purposely left it off!  But, I’d change my decision in a heartbeat, if I could do it all over.  Reason being – 99% of your guests will and want to give you something.  While I know it’s rude to enclose (and I hate opening a wedding invite with them), it helps the guest decide what to give (well, the less wedding-savvy one’s, at least!).

  • Wedding: November 1999

We did approximately the two per persone rule. Maybe more like 1.8?

We got nearly everything, about 95%. I had two showers in two different regions in New England.

I got no physical gifts for the wedding (as is pretty traditional in NY/NE area) only cards and checks.

My mother and Mother-In-Law did buy a few items for Xmas as well.

I found some people bought multiple place settings or wine glasses, or 5-8 of the smaller kitchen utensils (sppons spatulas etc) etc. which is why I did end up getting my registry fulfilled and I had more than 1 per person.

@oracle:  Did you include your wedding website information? I too was deadset against including registry information in our invites and most guests found out about or registries by looking at the website.

@lealorali:  I had three bridal showers and found that most of our registry items came from those. For the wedding itself we did get a few registry items but mostly we recieved cash/gift cards (always nice). To be honest I was surprised as the lack of gifts for the weddings considering I NEVER go to a wedding without bringing some sort of gift (or giftcard/cash).

In the end I would say we got about 60% of what we had on our registry.

@Treejewel19:  I did have a wedding website and included it in our invites (on an insert that had info) but hardly anyone went to our website (per the hit counter).

@oracle:  Bummer! I was also afraid of that during our planning. I guess word of mouth is the most reliable source. 🙁
