We never really set a hard budget. I told him I would really shop around for the best quality for the best deal and he knows that I am all about a good deal 🙂 by the time all is said and done we will be spending about 10k and we are happy with that.

Like @organizedbride11, we never really set a hard budget. I knew that I wanted to be around $10,000 but I wasn’t going to stop once I hit that amount if there were still things we needed to accomplish. When you’re already spending so much money, a little more really doesn’t seem that big of a deal. I haven’t sat down and really calculated everything but I would estimate we were somewhere around $13,000. All of our big stuff was done budget friendly but the DIY crap that we did totally threw us for a loop.
I expected to spend like $200-$300 at michaels on all of my supplies over the course of our wedding planning. Try closer to $1000. I was at michaels multiple times a week and on quite a few occasions I spent over $100 in one trip (wih coupons). I didn’t think about it at the time but it definitely added up. Our photo booth was also a bit of a surprise. We had estimated $200ish but it was more like $700 after it was all said and done. It looked phenomenal and we don’t regret spending the money but it was an added expense that we weren’t considering. When I look at the big picture, I still saved a boat load by doing all of the DIY’s that I did but it wasn’t as cheap as I initially thought it was going to be.
We’ve had a bunch of guests comment to our families that our wedding much have cost a fortune. It was an amazing night and everything came together perfectly. If they want to think it was $30,000+ then I’ll let them! 🙂

Not getting married until August next year, but we’ve got pretty far already! We got reception, menu, church, photographer, decor etc down, so I think we have a pretty good idea of how much it will be all together.
We didn’t really have a budget, but we were thinking around $20 000, looks like we’ll be hitting $35 000-$40 000. The vineyard we’ll have the reception at will take a big bite out of it, but it’s too gorgeous to give up. Luckily we’ve paid off around $10 000 already, which feels good! And my parents are going to help out, which is a big plus (gotta love norwegian traditions).
