So variable!

1) what is about average for your circle of friends and family

2) how much can you afford?

I think personally I would give $150-$200 if I could afford it. Don’t go out of your budget though.

We’d prob give 300 – 400 but it really depends on what your budget is. I’d double what you would give typically.

I was in a similar situation to you with my brother getting married shortly before me.  We specifically decided NOT to give cash even though that’s what we ALWAYS do for weddings.  We decided cash was kind of silly because with us getting married right after them they would just give us back the same amount we gave to them.  So we bought all of their bedding off their registery which worked out to about $350 dollars.  We usually do $200 for a wedding, $250-$300 for family or really close friends, so we spent more than we typically do.

For our siblings we bought them an excursion for their honeymoon? So it wasn’t like handing them a check but it was giving them an opportunity to do something they might not have been able to.

Just an idea

$500 for a sibling is what we would give as a standard

ETA – again I think it depends on your circles / region
