We paid $850 for ours.  He did an hour for the ceremony at 2:30 pm and then also from 5:30-midnight.

He probably wasn’t the hottest DJ in town, but I’m a control freak and had predone all my playlists for him anyway, and we also had a friend MC our reception so we didn’t have to worry about his skills there.  We pretty much just used him for his equipment.

Our reception DJ is $450 for about 5 hours, but I think we got a discount because he does a lot of events for my sister.  I didn’t like his proposal for our ceremony sound, so our ceremony DJ/sound guy is  going to be $300 for about an hour Frown, but I guess there is no reason to go through all this planning if the guests aren’t going to be able to hear.

Normal price range for a DJ for the Minneapolis/St Paul area is 1500-3000.  Mine is going to be 1200 and that is a discount! The DJ is a friend of mine who is traveling from a Northern Suburb of Minneapolis to Southern MN for my wedding (100 miles) from where he lives to venue.

We are paying $750 for 4 hours. Our DJ service is like the best around so I’m sure for our area they are on the higher end of the spectrum, but we didn’t shop around. Seeing how much other people are paying I guess ours is a pretty good deal.

I guess the message here so far is that the cost of a DJ really depends a lot on where you live!

As with any wedding service, I think it is always worth a try to talk them down in price if they are asking too much!

We paid $500 for 7.5 hours in Minnesota.  He was cheap but not very good.  You get what you pay for.

We’re paying about $400 for 4 hours plus set up and lights.  It looks like that’s really cheap compared to everybody else’s, but we are having our wedding in a smaller town.
