My fiance and I have found the perfect venue…a lodge with both indoor and outdoor facilities, gorgeous, and right beside a few hotels. We both love it. Only problem? We have to provide everything. We found an awesome caterer ($10pp)…but they charge out the wazoo for alcohol and $60/hr for a bartender. Yikes.
Another thing about the lodge, since it’s in a state park, is that there can be NO hard liquor. We’re 100% fine with that, since the party will last from 4-9 with an afterparty at the hotel bar afterwards. So we will be buying beer, wine, and wine coolers (Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Smirnoff Ice, etc.). We’re considering having one or two bottles of wine on each table for dinner..there’s a place in the Amana Colonies where I can get 3 bottles of wine for $10. And it’s delicious.
Basically, we’re expecting 100 people and want enough alcohol for people to loosen up , dance, etc. but we aren’t providing enough for everyone to gwt drunk. We both highly oppose drunk driving and refuse to let our guests do so. We’ll even share our limo if we have to..lol. Also, knowing our friends, wine will be the biggest hit. I went to a friends wedding and everyone was drinking the crap out of the arbor mist the couple brought, and that happens to be our favorite wine 🙂
