This is an impossible question to answer.  Everyone has a different budget, wedding mindset, and priorities.  You need to come up with a buget before you start viewing sites.

Varys greatly depending on where you are located. The average wedding where I got married is between $25-30K, but somewhere closer to major city like NYC the averages can be more like $60K.

What it SHOULD cost and what it COULD cost are very different.  In my opinion a wedding should cost around 2-3,000 but I know that most weddings are more like 20-30,000.  Which is insane in my eyes!

I agree it varies greatly based on where you live. We are spending much less than what is the average in our region. This is the average in my  area.

The average nationwide in the US last year was about 27k I read in an article, it seems to be going up about 1-2k every year!

There are so many variances it would be hard to answer this question. I do know what we will be paying for a destination wedding with 40 guests…around 20k!    That’s definitely 10k more  than we’d like to pay!!!!!!!  FI and I are paying ourselves since it is a second and FINAL marriage for us both 🙂 Things really add up!!! I’m starting to feel like it may not be worth it.  Good luck @pinkbean

I take all “average” wedding cost averages with a grain of salt. A lot of them are distributed by the very people who would stand to benefit by convincing people they need to spend more money on their weddings.

How much SHOULD things cost, or how much do they cost? Because… $600 for a plain 3 tiered cake for 70 people is absolutely ridiculous, to me… so… I think wedding things are FAR too overpriced, and it annoys me -_-

@miss narwhal:  I’m getting married in your county!!! And whoa… $1,000 for invitations?! Who does that??

@yanamari:  Oh you would be surprised. There are VERY wealthy parts of the county. We however are spending under $100 for invitations, stamps, etc.

The answer will depend on area so I dont think you are going to get good answers. For my area the average is about $40-50k. Mine is over that but, trust me, we are doing NOTHING EXTRAVAGANT! It’s because of my area.
