    Do you have a “No Solicitors” sign up? If not, put one up, and if anyone ignores it, just open the door, point to the sign, and shut the door again.

    Very occasionally does anyone knock on the door but we get a ton of flyers.

    Oh gosh! I know how you feel! I get soooo many it’s unreal… but we have learned that when we leave our dog outside in the back yard (we have a rotweiller), he usually hears them, and then runs to the side of the house and just starts barking at them. (we do have a fence but just hearing him barks, scares them off)They take off soo fast it’s too funny. Look at his face! lol… when he starts barking, watch out hehehe

    I have never had any show up at my house. I live practically in the middle of nowhere so most ppl have a hard time finding my house anyway lol. We also have a German Shepherd that is pretty good about “looking” tough. The cable guys, repairmen refuse to get out of their trucks unless I lock him up 😉

    I don’t in my area, but I have to knock on homeowners doors for my job. (hired out by their insurance company to udate files on the home)

    I was really surprised at how suspicous people are around here of anyone knocking on their front door! There is very little soliciting in the area, so maybe thats why. Yesterday, I knocked/rang the bell and waited 3 minutes for someone to answer. The guy didn’t come to the door, but I SAW him hiding inside. “whatever dude, I still have to snoop around your backyard unless you tell me to leave, so this is awkward….”

    The solitication was so bad at my apartment that I ended up printing out a sign that said, “ABSOLUTELY NO SOLITICATION” and ever since then I’ve been fine.  But I couldn’t stand them constantly knocking at my door.  It drove me crazy.

    We get an occasional knock from a contractor who is doing work “in the neighborhood” and wants to give us a quote but worse is once in a blue moon the church of later day saints knocks. OMG. We have a sticker on the door from our own church take a hint! I am too nice I just listen, nod and take the pamplet but sometimes I want to slam the door and sometimes I just don’t answer and hope they go away. Last time they sent well dressed 8 year olds…its so wrong =.=;

    @couawilou: Nice!!  I was just about to say something similar!  “Good puppy…please don’t eat me!”

    We get high schoolers selling candy & magazines, along with some JW groups from time to time.  They are all terrified of my dog (for some weird reason!).  Well…he’s huge and a bit hyper, so he is usually bouncing around as I hold onto his collar when I answer the door.  The last time we had solicitors, my dog bounced up on his back legs to say “hi!” and smell them (though I had a good hold on him), and the guy yelped and scurried back down our aparment stairs!!  Poor Nanuk only wanted to say, “hello!” and possibly lick them to death!!

    We used to get them all the time when we first moved here. After I put up a “No solicitors” sign, we haven’t had one since.

    Ugh, we keep getting these people from about an hour away for carpet cleaning.  They offer to do a room for free, but we don’t know what the catch is yet.  Why in the world would they be at our house when their business is located soooo far away??!
