You should aim to use a shotglass of sunscreen every time you apply. So one bottle is usually 4-5 applications. I usually bring two bottles of sunscreen, plus the kind I use for my face per person.

More is always better. If you have to buy more on the ship it’ll cost an arm and a leg. And the old fashioned liquid stuff will last longer than the spray stuff.

We brought 2 bottles to Costa Rica for 6 days and we ran out.  And we are not people that burn easily!

Um…I literally brought five bottles of sunscreen to Hawaii with us. I figured it was better to bring too much than to have to buy it on the island. And I’m a fair-skinned gal, too. The only downside was how much it weighed in my luggage!

I’m super pale (I used to get called Casper), and on my trip to the Bahamas, we went through one bottle for the two of us, with no burns.  I’d get 2-3 bottles just to be safe, but unless you’re literally laying on the deck in the sun all day every day, that’s a lot!  Plus, if you run out, they do sell that stuff on board…very expensive, but it is a last resort!

We used one full bottle for 10 days in St John, reapply once or twice during the day.

I say probably 3-4 bottles. I think we took two on our 5 day cruise and it probably wasn’t enough, although I didn’t get burned (shockingly). I just bought some of the natural baby sunscreen (physical barrier vs. chemical that sinks into your skin) and use a lot more of it.
