Okay, tell me how much time there is between the end of your ceremony and the start of your reception?
Also are you having a cocktail hour?
My ceremony will end at 5 and the reception begins at 7. We do not have enough room in our budget for a cocktail hour. Our ceremony takes place in a large park so I figured that our guests can drive/walk around the park. Or should I try and find something for them to do?

Our ceremony and reception are in the same location so we won’t have any time in between.
Are the majority of your guests local or OOT? Are you having a dinner at your reception?

Are your guests local or OOT? If I were attending a local wedding with 2 hours to kill between the wedding and the reception, I would go to a local bar or possibly go home in between. If you have a lot of Out of Town guests, you may want to give them some ideas of what to do in those 2 hours.

@chelles07: My ceremony is at noon. Our church only allows weddings at noon and 10am. Our cocktail hour starts at 6pm. My parents are inviting all 300 people to our house for a catered event just to hold people over until dinner time.

Our ceremony will end around 3:00, but our reception starts at 6:00. We might have some drinks available for people in the hotel, but we’re not having a real cocktail hour. I’m honestly kind of worried about what people will do.

Our wedding is at 10am and reception is at 1:30pm. They are about 10 min apart drive time. I put info on the town online at theknot.com on our wedding website, if people choose to look at that. If not, they will have to amuse themselves for a while, lol! I have a lot of people decorating the reception hall between, a lot of us will be taking pics at the church then the reception venue. So…I’m sure we’ll keep busy (I hope!).

I actually just attended a wedding last friday that had the ceremony begin at 5pm and Cocktails dinner did not start until 7pm. What happened was a lot were from out of town, so many did not show up for the ceremony part and just showed up for the reception. This may have been in part because it was also a Friday, but since many were from out of town I’m guessing many had already come into town earlier that day as we did.
We had about an hour and a half to kill between the ceremony and reception, and we just went back to our hotel as it was inbetween the two locations. I would maybe offer suggestions for Out of Town guests where to go or what to do inbetween, but guess many will either head to their hotel if it is close by or get a drink at a nearby bar. Hope this helps!
