I was just thinking about this, and wondering how other people’s weddings went. Hubby and I didn’t really “hang out” that much during the reception portion of our wedding. We, of course, ate together, did the first dance, etc… but most of the night he was on the dance floor and I was talking to guests who weren’t dancing. We would occasionally run into each other of course, but not too much. I feel kind of bad like we should have spent more time together, but also think maybe this was good since not everyone dances? This way one of us got to talk to guests who enjoyed doing either/or.
How much time did you and your hubby spend together at your reception?

I voted Other. We weren’t together the entire time because I had to chase him down for a slow dance but we didn’t exactly go our separate ways.

Maybe I should word that a different way? Maybe “separate ways” is too much apart? Help me out here 🙂

I’d say we spent about 80% of the night together. We ate together, did all the usual things and then separated for awhile to do the rounds talking to guests then met up again on the dance floor and from that point forward spent the evening together 🙂

Hm maybe change “Other” to 60/40? We spent time apart but were together for a decent portion of the reception.

During the reception we ate together, cut the cake, had the first dance, then we met up on the dance floor for the last dance and sparkler exit. I wondered if it was bad for us to be separate, but I think one of us was able to talk or dance with all of the guests that way. So it worked for us.
As a side note, when the coordinator at our venue asked us if we wanted a sweetheart table my hubby looked at me and said ‘We have the rest of our lives to eat together, I want to visit with the friends and family that are traveling to be with us on the wedding day.’ And I agreed…so there ya go….

Our reception was really short–only about 2 hours–and we were together the whole time.
