My employer gives you an extra week of vacation time in the year that you get married/domestic partnered, which I am very excited to take advantage of! I’ll be taking one week off before since we have to travel for the wedding, and then two weeks after for our honeymoon. FH normally gets 5 weeks of vacation so it’s not an issue for him.

I guess this could be an advantage to getting married when you’re older–more accumulated vacation time? πŸ˜‰

I’m a teacher so we purposely planned the wedding for July to accommodate my teaching schedule.  We’re getting married July 1st and our last day of school is June 20th… so I basically have a week and a half before but then the rest of the summer after =)

@SpecialSundae:  WOW! A 4 week honeymoon! That is a dream! πŸ™‚ My DH just told me that he’s been day dreaming about driving cross country with me… Seeing sites that we’ve always wanted to see but never gotten to… He even mentioned DRIVING up into Alaska… That’s right, we live in NY… He said he figures that if we can make it to Cali, etc… Then we can just head North to eventually get to Alaska πŸ™‚

I told him… The only time in our lives that we’ll ever have time to do that is when we retire! …Hopefully mini-road trips will happen between now and then πŸ™‚

We’re getting married on a Friday evening, so I’m taking the Monday before through Thursday off, then the entire week afterwards.  We’ll honeymoon from Sunday to the following Friday, come home, and still have all of Saturday and Sunday to recoup and enjoy each other before heading back to work on Monday (2 weeks from our first day off).

Wedding was on a Saturday and I took off from Wednesday on. We then took off 1 full week and 4 work days after that for our honeymoon. I used all of my vacation for the year, lol!

I have the Friday before our wedding off anyway (I get every other Friday off), but I’m also taking the Thursday and the following Monday. Then a week later we leave for our honeymoon for 3 weeks!

ETA: For those amazed by the amount of vacation time I have, I get paid crap, so that kind of to makes up for it, lol.

I took off the Friday before and the Monday after.  I did wish I had taken the Tuesday off as well, since that Monday I was hoping to just relax and decompress from the hectic and get my house out of shambles, but we ended up doing more running around dropping rentals off, getting rings done, etc.

I also took 3 days off for our honeymoon a couple weeks later.  My boss was a bit surprised I had taken so little time off…

We took 3 days off work before our wedding because our wedding was 5 hours away from where we live and we had a few final touches we still needed to sort out once we got there.

Then we took another 6 days off work after that for our honeymoon.

I am a teacher so I have summers off, but I also have my own little photography business on the side which is usually very busy in the summer. I have decided to not book anything a week before, or two weeks after the wedding.. last summer was so crazy that I felt like I didn’t have time for myself… this summer, I hope to get to relax and enjoyed being married πŸ™‚

I’m taking off four weeks and it’s going to be glorious. When I come back we’ll be on summer hours so half-day Fridays. Wahoo! We’re having a Destination Wedding and a AHR so I’m taking 1 week before the Destination Wedding, the week of the Destination Wedding, the week of the AHR (10 days after the actual wedding), and a week after AHR to recoup and get everything together. Can’t wait!
