@soontobehisbride:  depends how much you are going to save for the end.  i took off the 2 days before my wedding.

the government ended up shutting down for the 3 weeks prior to my wedding.  it would have been nice to have something to work on, but i had already done everything. i was very organized.

2 days prior, i went with my brother, Darling Husband, and bestman to pick up their tuxes

1 day prior, slept in, went to hotel with my mom and made sure everything was ready for the next day then relaxed until the rehearsal dinner.

@soontobehisbride:  I only work part time because in my field its hard to get full time unless you’ve been there for years in my city. Being part time I’m only guaranteed 6 shifts a month and the rest are based on call ins. I put in for the day before my wedding for rehersal, my wedding day and the day after my wedding for the open house/gift opening/family time. We aren’t doing a honeymoon til the following summer because of getting time off. I’ll probably have time off throughout the week before the wedding so not really worried about not having enough time to get things done.

@soontobehisbride:  How much DIY stuff do you have planned? If you have a lot you might need more time to prepare before the wedding.

We had a Friday wedding and I took off Wednesday afternoon and Thursday (and Friday of course). So only a day and a half before our wedding.

@soontobehisbride:  I asked to switch to part time 3 months before my wedding. Then I got fired wOmp wOmp.

I’m in graduate school tho and had a 5 month engagement so I was really able to use that time. I think if you have everything more or less under control 1 weeks should be okay. With such a short engagement I needed time at the 2-4 month mark to go see vendors at whatever time they had available..

@soontobehisbride:  I took off the Thursday and Friday before our Saturday wedding. I also took off the following week for our honeymoon and the monday after that (we got home on Sunday but I wanted a day to recoup and get stuff done at home before getting back to the grind).  Honestly – I probably could have done without taking the Thursday before off.  I literally sat in bed all morning watching a teen mom marathon, had lunch with a girlfriend, and then went and got my nails done in the evening with my family.  But it was nice to have a little me time and unwind.

I am taking the Wed, Thurs and Friday off before my Saturday wedding, but my boss said I can take the Mon and Tues should I need it, which is awesome! I’m hoping I won’t need to use those extra vacation days so I’m trying to get all my diy and planning done as soon as I can to avoid last minute stress 🙂

I normally work 4 days per week (10-12hrs) so I can’t ever get anything done by the time I get off work (6-6:30) so I am taking the whole week off before and after my wedding.  Before to calm down and make sure I have things done and the week after for our mini-moon!

I took the two days off before the wedding. I can’t tell you how much I wish I had taken more time. There are so many little things I have to do that I guess I hadn’t thought of.
I need to finish DIYing stuff, I have rehearsal and rehearsal dinner plans, I have hair appointments, nails appointments, waxing appointments, tanning appointments, setting stuff up at the venue, packing, picking up food (for when me and bridesmaids are getting ready at the venue which takes all day) Not to mention attempting to see some of the out of town family members while they are here for a short while for the wedding. If I had realized ahead of time I most definitely would have taken a week off before the wedding.

None. I had no DIY stuff and my wedding was a Monday of a 3-day weekend.
