Ugh. This would make me very uncomfortable. Hard to say how much, but I’d give what I would have spent on a regular present I guess. Which would depend on how close I was to the person.

Monetary value of shower gifts are usually 30-50.  I think $50 is a safe generous amount for a shower.

I’d give whatever you would normally spend on a shower gift for this person.

I just got a $25 gift card for my shower and I in no way feel like that was inappropriate. However, this was a friend who recently graduated from college, if my Aunts only gave me $25 I would be irritated.

Since it’s family, I would give more than $50. For a friend, I’d give $50.

I would say $50 is safe and more than generous, but just having my shower, I was happy with whatever anyone was able to afford!

yuck.  this is awkward, since so many gift cards only come in those set denominations.  i would usually give between 25 and 50.

Give what your budget allows and don’t worry about how it looks. I think requesting a gift card shower is lame, anyway. I’d give $25 at MOST, but my budget is pretty tight.

$25-50 is a good generous amount I think. I gave a $25 gift card to Home Depot when I recently went to a friend’s shower (who I actually don’t know that well).

My Future Mother-In-Law is hosting a gift-card shower for me for FI’s side of the family. She sent an envelope with a ribbon in it along with the invites so that guests can put the gift cards in the envelope and then will hang it on the “gift card tree” at the shower. She also requested no cards and everyone will sign one card at the shower. This way, no one will know how much anyone spent/gave. The only downside is that I don’t think I’ll even know who gave what, and I would have liked to say what I bought with the gift cards in the TY’s… oh well.

In regards with the one you’re invited to, I would spend as much as I would have on a gift. Depending on how well I know the person, if it’s family, etc.
