Think about how many guests the cake will be serving. Most bakers charge by the slice, with prices starting around $3, but more for fondant.

@Tigerlilybride:  It depends on what flavors you are going to have and the quality of ingredients that will be used. Fresh berries or complicated flavors should cost more than a simple white or chocolate cake with a frosting filling. 


Like the PP said, $3 a slice is about average, which based on how many servings that cake will have it would come out to $552.

Here in the Bay Area California, for  a fondant cake i have come across $6-$8 per serving!

So for a cake 16, 12, 8 which serves 181 people, that’d be about $1086-$1448…

I would at least offer him $800

For ingredients alone, it’s probably around $100-200 depending on flavors and quality of ingredients.
