We are getting a babysitter for one of the hotel suites at our reception venue. These are the ages of the kids she’ll be watching:
4 month girl
7 month boy (both babies will be in room by 8ish and hopefully sleeping!)
2.5 yr boy
4 yr boy
5 yr girl
6 yr girl
The 2-6 year kids will probably show up whenver their parents send them there (I would guess 9:30-10ish after a little dancing and reception fun). Then quiet time and a movie/slumber party style.
All parents will come to get their kids at midnight when reception is done.
What would you pay someone for this? I’m thinking $75? Is that too much or too little?

What time are you asking her to arrive? I’m assuming a little before 8. Let’s call it 7:30. She’ll be there till midnight, so…4.5 hours. She’ll have 6 kids total.
I’d give her $100. That’s generous but not over the top.

For 6 kids for 4.5 hours – I agree with the PPs about $100 being reasonable.

I’d probably go over a $100. Six kids is a lot and if you’re talking 3 hours, I’d probably do $125.

I would give her at least $150. Thats alot of kids at one time. I have 2 kids ages 4 and 2 and they’re hard to keep up with.

I don’t think that’s enough. We’re paying our babysitter $200 to watch 4 kids (1 three year old, 3 two year olds) for four hours. Kids have short attention spans and it’s a lot of work for one person to keep that many kids occupied at once.

i’m having two sitters and paying them $50 each to be there from around 8-midnight.

I am thinking at about 150… Thats a lot of children.. Even if they all arent there the whole time.

I agree that for one person, it needs to be at least $100-$150. Is there any possibility of having two sitters and paying each $75-$100? With the two younger children, the sitter could be tied up with them (and then the other children won’t be supervised).

six kids is A LOT! I would give over $100 for sure.

You’re looking at 18 kid-hours. If she was watching a single kid, she’d make babysitting pay for each of those hours.
I say 100 is not enough. Kids are INSANE. I love them, but they act like they’re drunk ALL THE TIME.

I am a Nanny and I would pay over 100 to make it worth her while. And those are a lot of tough ages to watch at once.

Thanks everyone! I’m going to try for 2 sitters but we’ll see what I can come up with.

I would say definitely more than $100 as well
