I found a dream wedding band via a dealer – early 20th c. French, channel set baguette diamonds… swoon! But it’s a bit more than I expected to spend on a wedding band ($1500, although we should be able to negotiate down a bit). Is there a hard and fast “rule” for how much to spend on band vs. what he paid for my e-ring? It would be about 30% of the cost of my e-ring. How did the spending shake out for my fellow bees?

josephine16: I got a .5 solitaire when we got married so I only have the one ring, sometimes I pair it with a rose gold band I bought to have the married look but it was $110. My new ring is a set so it came with a matching band and it was total $700

There’s no rule. Get what you love.
I was curious and crunched the numbers… My band was 13% of my ering cost, but the ering was on the pricey side, band more modest.

My wedding band was $17K and my e-ring was $45K – too lazy to calculate the percentage, sorry lol

bnvw882: I like doing math, so it was 37%

Mine is less then 2% but I went all out on ering and planned on a simple band all along. Got a little fancier then expected but still simple — Band is $400

I think the ratio varies for everyone. I wanted a simple wedding band (no bling), so it was 3% of the cost of the e-ring.

My e-ring is a $5500 Verragio. My band was $650 from Etsy 🙂

I think I might be doing the opposite?? My e ring is a simple sapphire solitaire, but I’m thinking of doing a more ornate band that will be equal price or possibly more!

My wedding band was 23% of the cost of my engagement ring. I love lots of diamonds! 🙂

There is absolutely no rule or even a guideline about how much one should spend on the wedding band as opposed to the ER. Think about it this way, a plain, narrow band could cost several hundred dollars (or even less), but could coordinate well with almost any ER – from one that cost several hundred dollars to one that cost tens of thousands of dollars. It is all about taste and preference.
My band was a little over a quarter of what my ER was.

Mine will be about 10% of the cost of the e-ring but I want something very dainty. There’s no rule, it’s whatever you like!
