jmLL:  We’re paying $6400 for 17 nights all inc accommodation in Mexico staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Sian Kaan for 10 nights in a penthouse suite and at the Excellence Playa Mujeres for 7 nights in a swim out suite; flights from London, UK, and private taxi transfers (airport to Sian Kaan; Sian Kaan to EPM; EPM back to airport) are also included in that cost. We will probably bring a further $2k in spending money/tips. As a rough guide, our flights and transfers account for about $2k of that cost, so accommodation is costing us about $4400.

We find that a great price. If we were to go to Europe for the same amount of time staying in the same standard of accommodation (5* adult only) we would pay a lot more than that even though it’s much closer :-s

jmLL:  Your missing the 3K-4K option in your poll. That’s what I would have voted for. Our hm is 10 days/11 nights long and costs $3500.

capitalbee:  We had a really great time, and would love to go back.  It was a pretty low-key place, very relaxing.  The beach there is STUNNING.  We spent most of our time at the activity pool, but it is an infinity pool so you are still staring at the ocean all day.  I don’t like to be super hot so I liked to get the the loungers that were halfway in the pool.  Make sure you bring a copy of your marriage license.  They have a special honeymoon dinner that you can do but they like to have proof that you were married in the last year.  Our favorite restuarant was the Asian resturant, which doesn’t sound that appetizing at a Mexican resort so we saved it for last because we didn’t think it sounded very good.  Once we realized how great it was, we went every night the last three nights.  We also took advantage of the free shuttle to the Moon Palace for 2 of the days.  Its a total differnent feel at Moon.  It is MUCH MUCH bigger than Sun and there are a TON of pools and restuarants.  The beach was not nice at Moon at all though.  There is a lot more action and activity at Moon which was fun for a couple days.  They also have more food and bars out by the pools so that was a fun change of pace as well.  If you go to Moon, make sure to go to the Swing Bars and get the Bahama Mamas.  Delicious!  You will have a great time, I am sure!  It sounds like we spent a little more than you did for the Sun.  If you don’t mind me asking, did you use a certain website or travel agent to get such a good deal?  We would love to go back but can’t afford to pay as much as we did for our honeymoon.  We did pay to upgrade for the conceriege level.  My husband and I don’t think that it was worth it.  I would upgrade when you get there if you can use your resort credits to do so, but we didnt really feel that it was worth the extra money that we paid for it.  You get great service regardless of whether you are in conceriege or a regular room.  Also make sure to bring lots of dollar bills.  Tipping is pretty customary there and they seem to prefer American dollars.

Soon_to_be_wed:  We booked through a travel agent, who booked it through Expedia. He checked around and they had the best price. I cant remember if there was a sale on or not but I do remember the room upgrades were on sale. We didnt go for concierge level. It also depends on where you’re flying from. We’re driving 4 hours to Toronto because its a major hub and cheaper to fly from.

We are going to Gran Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an in May for our 2yr anniversary. We’ll be there over Memorial Day weekend for 5 nights. Total for hotel+flights was $1,398 form Dayton, OH. I booked through orbitz on Sunday and got $150 off the total through a current promotion.

I checked cheapcarribean, applevacations, expedia, priceline, orbitz and kayak. Vacation package prices will vary depending on flight prices. I had been monitoring flight prices for date around that weekend for a couple of weeks at they had stayed above $600 and the vacation packages were hovering close to $2000 but then flight price dropped on Sunday and the packages did as well.

NewfieBullet:  How did you enjoy the resort? How long was the drive from/to the airport? DId you do any excursions? If so, did you book threm through the hotel or outside? I read a ton of TA reviews and really loved the place but I’m concered that it’s way far away from things we want to do (Chcihen Itza, Cenotes etc.) Any tips or recommendations would be great!

TwoStatesBride:  How did you do that so affordably? That’s like my dream honeymoon and I can’t seem to do it for less than 5k with airfare.

Mrs. Boa Constrictor:  We LOVED it! Totally raised our expectations of resorts from now on (which could be a bad thing, haha). It was quite a drive from the airport and if you want to do Chichen Itza, it’s really a whole day excursion because it’s not that close. That being said, there are lots of other awesome ruins to see and cenotes close by. We booked our excursions though the hotel (also did zip lining and snorkeling). The hotel itself was great! It’s really new and very nice. The adults only aspect was so good, it was always quiet, and you could always get a chair by the pool and on the section of the beach that for guests at the resort. Plus they brought you drinks too, which was pretty cool! I was worried about the fact that it wasn’t beach front, but it wasn’t a big deal at all. They had frequent train/trolley things going over there, and if you wanted to walk, not a huge deal. The resort didn’t have nightly shows or anything, but as you are able free access to the other resorts, that was no big deal if you wanted to see anything. Anyway, it was great and we’d love to go back!!

kimmo416:  there are three sandals in st lucia, the Grand, La Toc and Halcyon Beach. they vary in affordability and if you don’t get the fancy butler packages and crap they’re actually really affordable. Halcyon Beach is only like $216 per person, per night, and its all-inclusive so it’s not like you buy food or drinks while you’re there.

We stayed at Sanctuary Cap Cana in Punta Cana for 7 nights for a total of $3400 including airfare and taxes. There is no option between $3000-$4000 on your poll so I didn’t vote.
