wedding packages seem to vary an awful lot in pricing. I’m wondering what my fellow bees paid and what was included in your packages. Was there anything you wish you had? Anything you got that you didn’t really need/notice?

We paid $3000 plus tax. It included an engagement shoot with 2 photographers with a disk of retouched photos, full day of shooting (from getting ready to after the first dances) with two photographers, and either 2 DVD’s of a slide show and a disk of retouched photos or 1 DVD of the slide show and 2 copies of the photo disk. We also get the rights to all of our photos and they’re not watermarked or anything, so we can re-print whatever we want, they just can’t guarantee the quality of the photo if we take it to say WalMart and have blown up photos made (they said 99% of the time it’s fine but they don’t want you coming back and being all “We spent a ton of money on blowing up photos and they’re terrible!” because it’s actually the lab’s fault, not the photo’s fault). It also gets us a $1000 credit with them for prints or photobooks or whatever, and they’ll create/edit the photobook until it’s to our liking.
We had one quote for over $5000, but it included a boudoir shoot, a super nice photobook and a bunch of other stuff. Another photographer quoted us $2600 for a similar package to what we got, but for the prints that were included it would be the photos she picks in a pre-determined package (like this many 8X10’s and this many of this size and what not).
We haven’t gotten married so I’m not sure if there’s anything we really didn’t need or notice….

Okay as future bride and photog I can tell you what I’m getting and what I’m giving.
i live in Miami and I’m paying for $1800 for my photog who lives near tampa, plus hotel, mileage, and food so about $2300. She’s offering all day coverage but this doesn’t include an engagement session. It does include the pictures on a disc. Which works for me bc I have my own professional printing labs and album companies that I use for my business.
I charge 2k with engagement session, 6hrs, disc, 2photogs. Of course there’s other little things too. But that’s the majority. plus copy right. You have the option to print with us or on your own. No guarantee in quality if you choose to print on your own though.
If I didn’t all ready work with pro labs I would be printing with my photographer. Labs at Walmart, Walgreens, etc are unpredictable and can end up costing you more in the end.
Just my two cents 🙂

For 8 hours of coverage on the day, a photo album, dvd of all edited images with print release, and an engagement session – I am paying $2,100. That does include some discounts. It’s a steal in my opinion. I love my photographer.

We paid $2,800 for our photographer. Included 9 hours of coverage, two photographers, engagement shoot, disc of all images, rights to the images, proof box, and $500 print credit. I think there was more but that’s all I can think of right now. :]

I chose more than $4,000.
I wish that included an engagement shoot. It would be $300 more for that. But, she is worth it. I think by next year, her rates will be significantly higher, so I’m glad to lock her in now.

Engagement shoot, 8hr of shooting with two photogs, disk of images: $3800

We already did an engagement shoot (that only cost $150 and I love the photos) but that photog was a friend and she hasn’t done a TON of weddings. I haven’t decided yet if I want to hire a friend or someone I don’t know to do the day of photos. I know my FH really liked working with her – he hates getting his picture taken and he said after that knowing I knew her made him more comfortable.
@MrsCasanova: what’s your opinion on getting friends to do wedding shoots. Keep in mind that she wouldn’t know many of the guests (she was a classmate and I’m only planning on inviting 2 of my classmates and their SO’s, this person won’t be on the guestlist if she’s not the photog, we’re not that close)

Mine was $1,500 for seven hours of photography services. Everything else was extra.

We paid $2500 for:
Unlimited Day of Coverage
DVD of Images
Package set of 4 x 6 prints
and Printing Rights.
I think his rates are going to go up next year, as he is fairly “new” but extremely talented.

$2250 included an engagement shoot, 2 photographers, a CD of images with rights, an 8×10 of engagement picture for the wedidng day, 8 hours of coverage
They are based out of Pennsylvania instead of Maryland which saved us an absolute fortune. I didn’t find many photographers with the bare minimum for less than $3000.

We are paying 3150 for 2 photographers, all day coverage, a 30 page fine art album, disc of wedding images, 16X20 canvas wrapped print, and 150 prints! I got a bit of a discount for opting out of engagement pictures, my sister is does photography for a hobby and took them for us!
Having a album was a must for me! I really wanted a high quality one that I didn’t have to make myself.

We are paying $3200 for an engagement session, full day coverage with 2 photographers, a disc of all wedding images with full rights (no watermark or anything), a large bound album, 2 smaller albums and 2 “parent albums” (basically mini versions of our album), a 16×20 poster thing that guests can write on, and two 16×20 framed photos.
The cool thing about our photog is only $1050 is due before the wedding in 3 installments, – the rest is once we pick up the photos after the wedding except the last 200 which is due when we pick up our albums.

Our budget for photography is only $1,300.
We’re getting: 1 photographer, 6 hours of photography, and a USB with the finished photos on them.
What we don’t need/aren’t getting: an engagement session, and printed pictures/photo album.
Our wedding is going to be in upstate NY. But out of the 6 photographers I emailed, the first one that got back to me was the only one that was willing to work within our budget (and y’know what? she was our favorite. yay!)
