This entire thread gives my anxiety. I think I’m not going to end up going on a honeymoon because there’s no way in God’s green earth I’m going to be able to afford it. Maybe we will go camping. 😞
About $7000 for 6 days in 5 star luxury in Hong Kong. Best fun ever! Can’t remember the breakdown, it was years ago and our travel agent arranged most of it. 😛
Our honeymoon cost us between €3,000 and €3,500. We spend 4 nights in Venice, 2 nights in Disneyland Paris and 2 nights in Paris in March.
We spent €1,450 on hotels, €550 on flights and somewhere between €1,000 and €1,500 on food, activities, shopping etc.
The only thing we really splurged on was the hotel in Disneyland Paris. I booked one of their “Club Packages” which got us room and breakfast upgrades, extra Fast Passes and snacks throughout the day. Any time we have travelled to Disneyland Paris before we have stayed in the city and commuted out but this time we wanted to stay closer and get the Extra Magic Hours offered by the resort hotels. Besides that we didn’t really splurge. We shopped around for our other hotels and didn’t eat in the fanciest of resturants.
It’s really going to be so different for everyone, and there isn’t an average or appropriate amount for a honeymoon. Everyone has different travel budget, and enjoys experiencing different things.
My Fiance and I are spending about $8k on our honeymoon. We have 3 weeks booked for Europe. We will be visiting Amsterdam, Paris, Nimes, Barcelona, and Madrid. We are staying in airbnbs, which I love, and helped us stay on budget. We will be mostly taking trains, but we rented a car a few times for day trips. We have also budgeted to splurge on good food.
We were very willing to splurge on:
1. Lots of activities/getting the full experience
2. A really nice hotel room that made us feel fancy
3. Upgrading to “premium” seats on the plane to get the extra leg room because 24 hours on a plane in total is not a joke! haha
I wanted to rent a convertible, but DH talked me out of it, because we won’t even spend that much time in the car. I also seriously considered first class tickets, but DH talked me out of that one too because it would triple the plane costs (which in my heart, I knew was not the rational choice, haha).
1) Where did you go for your honeymoon and how long was your trip? We went to Hawaii for two weeks. We stayed in Honululu for 3 nights, and then flew to maui for the remainder.
2) What was your total cost for the trip (flights/transportation, lodging, food, activities, etc.) Hmm.. I’d say around 12 000. But we did splurge, and this could probably be done cheaper. We rented a car while there, we took a heli tour, and we definitely were not frugal with meals.
3) What did you feel most comfortable splurging on? The accomodations. We could have chosen cheaper accomodations, but I think the hotels we chose really made our trip amazing.

$5000 for two weeks in Indonesia.
I’m getting married in July this year and am thinking of booking a last minute deal somewhere down south at an all-inclusive resort for a week, anywhere from $2000-$4000 seems reasonable for us. I think going to an all-inclusive resort is the best honeymoon choice because you don’t have to worry about accommodations and food, just total relaxation after the stresses of a wedding and family.
Renting a cabin on Lake of the Woods for 5 days, 3 days of charter fishing, all meals included. ~$1200 for both of us.
We spend about $5,000 (US) for our 12 day honeymoon in Hawaii. We went to two islands.
We stayed at nice hotels, but nothing too fancy. We also didn’t do any super fancy meals. I don’t feel like we missed out on anything though. We did everything we wanted to do.
We are hoping to do a mini-moon to a nearby city for 3-4 nights (maybe Quebec City) and I doubt we will spend more than 1k all inclusive.
About $8000 for a week in Hawaii. It was maybe $2500 for airfare, $1000 for rental cars, $2000 for hotels. The other $2500 was for activities & dining. We visited three islands, and splurged mostly on our hotel in Maui which I wouldn’t bother doing if I went back because we didn’t spend that much time in the room, and it turns out we aren’t that into the big resort atmosphere. We were willing to spend a fair amount on dining and some activities like charter fishing, which I don’t regret because that’s what I remember most about the trip.
1) Where did you go for your honeymoon and how long was your trip? We went to Italy (Rome) and Spain (Barcelona) for like 9 days.
2) What was your total cost for the trip (flights/transportation, lodging, food, activities, etc.) We spent just over $5k I believe.
3) What did you feel most comfortable splurging on? We splurged the most on activities and food….when in Rome, right?
