We’re getting a MAD DEAL for Queensland Australia! 12 nights total (i think; Fiance doing the booking LOL)
free flight from LA using airline miles and paying taxes $350 for both
7 free hotel nights using mariott/chase points
5 nights live aboard catamaran scuba diving great barrier reef for two (includes diving equipt, food, drink) $4000
I’m pretty sure we’re rocking a $12000+ trip for about $5000
This wedding planning has turned me into a miles/rewards credit card monster!!! Before the September wedding coming up, we managed to go to Dominican Republic (feb) for 5 nights for $1500, and Maui (leaving tomorrow!) for 5 nights for $500 after cashing in on miles and rewards.
I know a lot of Bees here save funds and then have wedding paid off before the big day. we’re doing a combo; putting as much as we can on credit cards, paying off as much as we can monthly, and getting rewards. we’ll have about 6 months of payments after the big day, but so worth it!

Mind sharing where you stayed? Time of year? All-inclusive?
We’re thinking about somewhere in the USVI, but I keep going back and forth as to which island.

We took the ultimate dream vacation to Bora Bora, Moorea, and Tahiti. Given that both flights to and from are over night, the entire trip ended up being for 11 nights. We spent probably somewhere between $15,000-18,000 with everything included. We did stay in overwater bungalows for the entirety of the trip and had a special excursion or event planned for every day. This price is inclusive of all flights (from the east coast US), hotels, transfers, excursions, food, drinks and tipping. I would say that the whole thing was a splurge for us, but DH and I constantly say it was the best vacation of our entire lives & totally worth it!!

We went in July, stayed at the Westin. It wasn’t all inclusive, but it was much cheaper than one with the discount we got. I think starwood had jsut bought that property when we went, it wasn’t as fancy as the usual Westins. Dunno if they’ve upgraded things since. Sorry can’t offer much more opinions, we don’t typically do beach vacations so I have no basis for comparisons.

Our actual honeymoon was about $2500 for 5 nights at an all-inclusive in Mexico with a few spa treatments and excursions. It wasn’t really a splurge trip for us — more of a way to relax after all the wedding chaos and stress.
Our first anniversary trip was more of a honeymoon in my opinion. We spent about $4k for 8 days in Barcelona and a little beach town called Cadaques. We stayed pretty frugually but splurged on dinners and way too much wine. We also went to an amazing spa and quite a few museums which also pushed up the price.

I love reading all of your responses– there’s so much variety in location and expenses! Thanks bees!
To answer my own questions, we’re planning on going to Waikiki for at least a week (maybe a week and a half). Right now, it looks like our total cost will be $8K. I’ve let Fiance take the reins on planning this because this it’s the part of the wedding he’s been most excited about. We’re probably going to splurge on a few experiences, but intend to relax most of the time… and eat!

1) Where did you go for your honeymoon and how long was your trip? Antigua in the Carribean- 7 night stay at an all inclusive Sandal’s resort
2) What was your total cost for the trip (flights/transportation, lodging, food, activities, etc.) $6,500- This included round trip flights from San Francisco to Antigua, lodging, food, activities, everything! We spend $300 outside the resort.
3) What did you feel most comfortable splurging on? We splurged on the whole honeymoon. We could have done something similar for $4k, but DH really wanted to stay in the Carribean. We did not want to have to think during our honeymoon. It was worth it.

I’m more impressed that you can take 4 weeks off from work LOL and that doesn’t include time off for the actual wedding??!! I’m jelly!

- Wedding: June 2017 - The Olmsted
this will most likely be the only chance I have to take a full 4 weeks off of work. I am currently working in a very flexible position. After we return from our honeymoon I hope to start the search for a new job. I will likely only get 10 days paid vacation per year for quite some time. Luckily my fiance gets 4 full weeks vacation a year (United States federal employee with prior military service) he also gets an additional 40 hour bonus a year. I am very jealous of his vacation time.
We are taking a delayed honeymoon. Wedding in June (only taking two days off work) and we leave for our honeymoon August 31st. This gave us a little extra vacation time!
We got very lucky to be granted the time off.

$2600 CAD for 8 nights all inclusive on the Mayan riviera. We will be doing lots of excursions for our “adventuremoon” though so that will add to our cost!

We are going to Japan for 1 week, and Kauai for 1 week. Estimating $7k for the whole trip (not including flights, we got those on points!). We are normally budget travelers but are planning to splurge a little for our honeymoon 🙂
