@goodgenie:  I asked him to pikc what he REALLY wanted. I just happened across the damascus and he fell in love with them. It’ll be about a 10th of what my set costs. But its what he wanted. So I’m buying a nice damascus steel dagger as a surprise wedding gift =)

Fiance is a metallurgical engineer so he put a lot of thought into what metal he wanted for his wedding band. He decided on Palladium so his band ended up being around $800.

My Fiance also picked out what he wanted. I would have been comfortable with himspending more, since as a pp pointed out I hope That he will wear it for the rest of his life. He didn’t like the heavier feel of gold which is what he thought he wanted initially so he is going with a cobalt ring with a yellow gold inlay. $450 something.

My Fi and I went ring shopping together like a month after we got engaged. He doesn’t wear much jewelry so I thought it would be impossible for him to find his ring. Boy was I wrong. 2 stores later he found his ring. It was valued at $900 but got on sale for $450. I was sold.

My Fiance and I picked his out together, it’s 14K whitegold with a tiny strip of diamonds to match mine, and we paid $250. The jewelery store told us it had come in when the price of gold was low, and she showed us a plain white gold band (without the diamonds) and said it was $450 … so I guess I’m saying if you ask around for some of the older bands (or ones that came in when the price of gold was lower) it will make it much cheaper. 🙂

$250 isn’t extremely cheap, but we just couldn’t believe that it was half the price of the normal whitegold bands that had come in a little later. It also has a lifetime warranty which was important to us because of FI’s work — he probably won’t wear it to work, but on the off chance he does, it could end up broken, and they’ll replace it no questions asked. (We got it from Peoples.)

DH wanted a cheap band. We got a tungsten carbide ring – doesn’t scratch, never needs polishing and just a shade darker than white gold (looked great with my white gold ring) – just wanted he wanted. $99

@HelleCat:  I really love the ring you guys picked.  It’s unique.  FI wasn’t picky about his band, until I showed him this one and his whole demeanor changed.  He became like a little boy in front of a candy shop.  So I just knew I had to get it.  It’s more than I expected to pay but honestly I’m happy to give him what he wants.

It was $377, that includes the tax & all. It’s from the Scott Kay collection I believe.. I haven’t been able to find a picture of it online.
