We’re a couple months away from actively booking an officiant, but for the bees here who had a secular officiant do their ceremony, how much did it cost? We’re trying to get an idea of how much to allocate in our budget for that.

I depends wher you live. Check out theknot and see what the prices are

Ours is $595 that includes a visit to write the vows and her services on the day

Ours was $225 (found them on thumbtack). We could have met with them before but didn’t find it necessary. They showed up to our pop up ceremony and even had a wireless sound system that they played our music choices on.

$650 AUD includes all legal documentation, help with vows and anything else for the ceremony, and the rehearsal the week before.

$85, but we are having a very short ceremony and no rehearsal dinner which kept the cost down. I used thumbtack as well.
She is a minister, but she is doing a secular ceremony for us, so not sure if that counts.

I’m in Ohio and an officiant is provided by the venue. She would be $185 but we haven’t decided if we’re going with her or the pastor at my church (he’s new so not the pastor I knew growing up).

495 🙁 so expensive but he’s amazing, I’m in Orange County so everything is high lol

I know that ours varied depending on where you lived to the proximity of her. I can’t remember exactly, but I think $150.

We had a friend officiate for ours, it costed us a bottle of Jack Daniels. lol

We used a judge – it cost us nothing. He wasn’t even allowed to accept payment or gifts.

Ours is $450. She’s a minister at a nearby Unitarian Universalist church. I’m a long-time UU but do not go to church, and am not a member of the the church, because I work on Sundays.

Not too much! We’re in DC and we received multiple quotes from Thumbtack, all between $100-400. The one we chose charges $150 and has let us have as much input with the ceremony as we want. We are not relgious, but both of our families are very Baptist, so we wanted someone who was comfortable doing a non-denominational ceremony that was mostly secular with a tiny bit of Bible stuff sprinkled in for our parents. He’s religious, but has been fantastic about doing it the way we want.

We are in the midwest. Ours is $350, but that includes a few hours of pre-marital counseling, the rehearsal, and the ceremony. He is a UU minister. We liked this option because we got a little bit of the spiritual ascpect of things, but not overtly religious.

hyacinths: That’s pretty much what we’ll be doing. No rehearsal or anything like that, just a private vow-swap. I sure hope we can find someone for $85, that sounds like a deal!
