I mean I’m in Canada so it’s not even what you wanted but we’ll be married in British Columbia, we’re paying $1750 and she’s quite good and we get two photographers, ceremony+4 additional hours of coverage and rights to all our finished images.

Wedding photography is incredibly expensive! We found a guy who had a reasonable portfolio and lives just a few blocks from us. We explained that we didn’t need him there for the entire night, just for a few hours. We’re paying him $400 for 3 hours of photography and digital files of the photos. This is in the Midwest.

Our photographer is going to cost $1,300 for 8 hours of coverage on the East Coast. We get an online gallery to share with people, a USB with all our images, and reproduction rights. Also a “scouting trip” where he visits the venues, figures out backdrops and sun, and forms a game plan for the day.

I was able to get us a better deal on the price since we’re getting married in the off season, at the end of November.

I am getting a deal from a co-worker of my mom but…..from when I had called around before I had booked him I was going to book a photographer that charged $3,300 for ten hours, 2 photographers, rights to all photos and an engagement session. The photographer that I am using usually charges $3,000 for ten hours, 2 photographers if he sees the need for it, rights to all photos, professional photo album (20 pages), and an engagement session. I am in Michigan.

$3,000 for 2 photographers, 8 hours of photography, digital copies and rights to all our photos, and an engagment session. I live in MN. They were one of the more expensive photographers we looked into but had horrible comunication with everyone else we contacted (most wouldn’t return contact with us.) I figured I’d rather spend a little more on the photographers if I know I won’t be worried about getting into contact with them later.

Some people we looked into were as cheap as 1,000. The most espensive was 6,000. It really depends on the experience of the photographer.

I did a LOT of research on photographers in my area. I live in Austin, TX and photography was one of those things that meant the most to me, so I wasn’t going to cut corners.

My process was basically creating a huge spreadsheet of every single photographer I could find in my area. I then went through and narrowed it down based on photography style and quality. From there, I started contacting each one using price as a deciding factor. I wanted a lot out of a photography package, so of course the end price still ended up being pretty high but I’m VERY happy with the photographer we ended up with. We’ve done one engagement shoot so far and I love the photos and have received so many compliments on them!! He’s been doing wedding photography for a couple of years, has previous experience in videography at weddings, is in school honing more of his photography skills, and most importantly has a great eye for what looks good in photos. He gave us a lower price because he genuinely loves the work and is trying to build his portfolio.

Our package ended up being 3400. Sounds like a lot, but for other photographers who were comparable skill-wise, it would have been 5000+ especially for all of the things in our package:

-Engagement session

-Multiple engagement sessions (he loves the work and he encourages us to find fun ideas for shoots)

-2 wedding day photographers

-All day wedding coverage (10 hours)

-Flash drive of all photos in high resolution edited and with print release

-Wedding album with 100 photos

-Online password protected gallery so family can go on and order photos

-Slide show preview with 100 photos

-4 hour photobooth at the wedding with unlimited prints, props & scrapbook that we will be using as our guest book

 -Bridal session shoot

I feel like we got an excellent deal!!

We’re getting married in the Bay Area and our photographer is roughly $6k (this includes engagement photos, 10 hours of shooting with our photog + a second shooter, a wedding album, and a DVD with all of our images). Our photographer is awesome, and she was actually one of the more reasonably priced ones I found – some of them STARTED at $5k-$7k.
