I once was a water fanatic. I would drink plenty of water every single day. Then I started teaching. Now, I barely drink any water at all because I HATE needing to go pee every thirty minutes (also, I can’t teach very well when my eyeballs are turning yellow…and I can’t leave those wild teenagers alone!)
So how much water do YOU drink, and how do you avoid needing to pee (literally) every thirty minutes?

@Peffy: I have a 24 ounce water bottle that I carry around with me, and I drink it all within the day. Sometimes I drink a bit more. I’m a reading specialist, so my ability to go to the bathroom is a little more flexible than yours, but I’ve found that I just drink more water outside of school than in.

I try to drink about half my weight in ounces… so about 55-60oz a day. It doesn’t always happen. I’m an elementary school student teacher and it’s hard! I have a really strong bladder, but I tend to drink more once the school day is over and just before lunch and specials.

I am on a diet, and at my weight you are supposed to drink at least 65 oz a day. I try to drink around 80. I have to pee ALL THE TIME so its pretty annoying.

@Peffy: I drink a lot of Crystal Lite because I don’t like just water enough to drink as much as I should. I usually drink it about half-strength though because I just want a little flavor.
And peeing every thirty minutes…. I think I just have a big bladder. Growing up I wouldn’t pee at school because the bathrooms were nasty, so I’d go 8 hours without peeing at all! I don’t do that anymore but I don’t think I go to the bathroom all the time either.

minimum of 60 oz no matter what but at least 2 liters in a day. Usually I average 3 liters a day more on the days I am off work where I can freely refill my water since the water at work has a funky taste and I hate taking in so much water in the gallons to satisfy my need.

I drink 3-5 32oz water bottles a day.
I like to chug them down in 16-oz shots, about an hour before I know I’ll have time to use the bathroom!

I try to drink about 64 oz a day

I drag a 25 oz bottle around with me and I probably fill it 4-5 times a day. I have no suggestions for not peeing more, I think that kind of just comes with the territory of being well hydrated. I’d rather be well hydrated though than never have to pee. It’s not healthy if you can make it on a 5 hour road trip without stopping (this happened with a couple of friends of mine and they all thought it was nuts that i kept having to go to the bathroom)

It’s probably about 64 ounces on most days. I have a 24 oz water bottle that I usually fill up twice, so at least 48 oz. I try to drink at least a cup in the morning before class and 3-4 cups at night with/after dinner.

@Peffy: Most of what I drink is water. I have a water bottle I carry with me to school (not sure how big it is), and I usually have to refill it at least once during the day. Honestly, I just have excellent bladder control because of my extreme distaste of public bathrooms. I can go an entire day (from around 8 until 7:30 at night) and only have to pee once, maybe twice. My best suggestion is to get your body on a schedule. I normally go as soon as I wake up, then later after I eat lunch, and maybe once more before my evening round of classes.

I teach teenagers as well. Seriously, they should have prepared us for this during school. It didn’t even cross my mind before actually being in the classroom all day, every day that as an adult I couldn’t use the bathroom when needed. My students complain constantly that they aren’t allowed to go, and I’m thinking “Please…if you knew.” I probably drink around 34-40oz. during the school day, and on average 70oz. a day. I’ve trained my body so I can make it until I have a planning period or for lunch (that means on the average day, I hold it from 8am to 12:30 at least). Coming back from winter break really messed with me lol. I forgot that I couldn’t just go to the bathroom when I had to. It’s tough!

Oh some days it’s a lot, but other days not at all. I really should get better and drink more because I know how good it is for you!

Not nearly enough. I keep telling myself to be better with it and I’m not.
@MexiPino: This sounds like a good idea because I have the same problem. Does it taste that much better? I’ve never tried it.

I drink about 2 liters of water a day. But I pee constantly, so I dont have any suggestions.
