@Pand0ra:  Hmm..that seems really weird that your doctor is restricting your diet at this point, unless you have GD or something…

@Pand0ra:  that seems weird to me, 25 pounds isn’t even the high end of normal. My OB/GYN told me that they dont like to dictate how much a woman should gain, because everyones pregnancy is so diferent.

I started out at 155 and when I delivered I was 170. I delivered at 35.5 weeks and I lost 10 lbs my first trimester, so I gained that back plus 15.

All 3 of my pregnancies, I gained exactly 60lbs. weird. I think it must be my default pregnancy gain. I lose it all by the 1st birthday! I am 5’5, avg weight is 130’s. My first was 6.4lbs, second 9.17lbs and third baby was 10.4lbs! so baby size did not seem to make a difference. After 3rd baby, i remember the hospital weighed me. I lost 20lbs 3 days after delivery! 10.4lbs baby and 10lbs water/placenta etc

@Cory_loves_this_girl:  No GD – I dont get tested for that till week 27 and so far, no symptoms. Only thing I can think of is that perhaps the 25-35 recommended weight gain we all hear/read about is not a  “one size fits all” range. I’m petite, small boned and short waisted so perhaps 25 is my max?? Sucks for me because I find I’m hungry all the time these days and what else would I be craving but pastas and breads.

@Pand0ra:  I think it depends on your doctor. I’m 5’3 and short waisted, and none of the doctors I’ve seen have mentioned my weight gain. I think your doctor’s being too hard on you! Poor thing…

I had a doctor’s appointment today (I’m almost 26 weeks) and to my surprise I found out I’ve gained over 30 pounds! Surprised The doctor doesn’t think I’ve gained too much though…he wasn’t even going to test me for gestational diabetes until I insisted. It seems like all of our doctors have very different opinions about weight gain!!!

@Pand0ra:  I think I’d be looking for a new doctor.

I’m 5’2″ and 110lbs starting weight and with #1 I gained 42lbs and so far last week at 14 weeks I was up to 118lbs.  My weight fluctuates so much though with this pregnancy.  I’m hoping now that I have my energy back I can get back into my workouts and slow down this weight gain.
