Ugh, 40lbs here, too. After I had my daughter I just became a huge couch potato, but I’m hoping to get the motivation to start dieting and exercising soon. I was a size 14 or 16 in pants when we met, but now I wear size 18 or 20. He’s gained a bunch of weight as well, but everyone says that’s because of my awesome cooking, lol!

15 pounds! and I can say that 100% of the weight I gained is literally due to being a in a comfortable relationship. We always cook together, we snack together, we go out to bars together, etc. He is always telling me I am so beautiful, so I lost the drive to workout and try and get more and more fit because he is always so happy with me.
Now, here I am, wearing stretchy pants every damn day because I can’t button up any of my jeans.
Oh ya. And maternity pants. I wear those sometimes too. And I am NOT pregnant. 🙂

Well we’ve been together 7.5 years, so both our weight has fluctuated over that time. I gained 20 pounds over the first several years (probably more so to starting University vs. being in a relationship with him). Since then i’ve lost 30 pounds, so for the last few years I’ve weighed less than when we started dating. I think he’s more inspired me to care about being in shape vs. made me stop caring.

Since moving in with my Fiance, I gained 90lbs. Prior to moving in together, I had lost 40lbs – but once we shacked up, I gained that 40lbs back, plus 50 more! It is AWFUL.
I have since lost 30 of that, but it has been a HUGE struggle. We both eat VERY healthy and non processed – but I just have one of those unforgiving metabolisms. I am on thyroid meds, but they don’t really help with the weightloss.

@pamphilia I totally know what you mean about unforgiving genes! Some people just get lucky with the fast metabolism! Dang them!! Keep up the good work and know that we are are rooting for you!

I’ve gained about 10kgs since getting together with my man, but its SO FRUSTRATING – i was so unhealthy when we met – i smoked, drank way too much, ate very erratically and not healthily, but i was 25 so my body never rebelled. When we moved in together/i turned 27, things changed and now i can’t look at a slice of pizza without gaining a kilo. So, i try and eat very very healthy, non processed, veggies and lean meant 6 days a a week and let myself off the hook on Saturdays. I also have been doing the 30 day shred 5X/week. I’ve lost about 3kgs in 4 weeks, which i’m happy about but i’m getting nervous about the holidays! carbs are so my weakness!

@XWeddBlissX: I’ve gained 10 pounds. It’s not the scale that bugs me, but the fact that all of my muscles are now gushy-ish. However, my Fiance has gained about 30lbs of muscle lol. We each used to work out at least 5 days a week, and then he started working out more & more with his friends and going when their schedules allowed so that he had ‘spotters’ and it conflicted with my schedule, so I gradually stopped going. BUT, my dress will be here in the next 1-3 months and I’m gna look damn good on my honeymoon, so I’m starting to get really gym-crazy again.

I gained 12 pounds!! but about a year ago i said alright enough of this….and I have lost 8 pounds…and I think the rest is muscle because I am a lot more fit now then I was when I was “skinny”

I haven’t really gained or lost much. I met Fiance in high school, and then in college I wound up getting pretty sick and lost a little bit of weight, which stayed off. Then when I moved, I gained a couple pounds back, but I’m still at the same weight I was when we met.

At the beginning of the summer, I was I was up about 40lbs from when I met my fiance. Since then I’ve lost about 20 lbs, so now I’m only up about 20. But we met & started dating when I was 15, shortly after I had been pretty sick and had a hard time eating. lol. I’m 23 now, so it’s expected that I gain at least a little bit, I’d say. lol. I was a kid when we met. =)

Gained 50 pounds over six years – have knocked down about ten since the engagement…
Post # 43
In the first 2 years of our relationship I put on 15 pounds and was already heavier than I wanted to be when we started dating. Since the engagement I’ve lost 17 and am hoping to lose at least 10 more in the 6 months I have left.

Before we started dating, I’d lost 60 pounds. It started creeping back on, then we got together and it came in a flood. I gained 80lbs, although only 50lb of that was with Fiance. URGH. Over the last 7 months I’ve lost about 25lbs so I’m moving in the right direction. It’s been hard though. I interval train 4 days a week, do uphill walking twice a week, and lift weights twice a week. I count my calories and try to eat clean, unprocessed. I have an underactive thyroid and shitty metabolism, so I’m happy I’m getting anywhere at all. Still, it can be really frustrating. I’ve always been heavy but if I can get back to where I was…..55lbs more to lose, I will be happy with that for the wedding. Then I’ll just try to keep going!

- Wedding: December 2010 - Savannah, GA
I didn’t put on any weight UNTIL I moved in with him. Then I put on 30 pounds in less than 3 months. Then another 8 pounds after I started working at a new job.
Now that job has ended, and I’ve lost 10 pounds. I want to lose about 20 more pounds to get back to my ideal weight. But……I don’t want to lose any more than another 5-8 pounds before the wedding in 24 days. I have to fit in my dress!!!!

I haven’t gained any weight since meeting Fiance and still fit my highschool clothes too, though they are a little bit more snug now. I have my genes to thank for that!
