$220 for a shortened hem, a bustle and changing the neckline to a sweetheart (it’s being pinched down, not cut into the fabric). Wow, I’m just realizing I probably paid way too much

No clue yet, I don’t go until September for alternations.

But I am going through David Bridal so I’m guessing probably $300 to do everything I want done.

Initially $140 for hemming, adding breast cups, taking in at the waist and adding the bustle.

Then an additional $30 to take in the bust/waist again  whem I unintentionally lost more weight.

    So $170 total.

$130 – taking the dress down a few size (I bought a 10 at running of the brides, and it was altered to street size 2), hemming, adding cups and bustle.

I’m having my alterations done at Vera Wang, so they are pricey (850$). But i’d rather pay for the piece of mind of having the makers of the dress alter it (they know the design), rather than entrust an unknown seamtress with my dress. This is especially true since i’m having a semi-serious alteration done (not just a hem and taking in/letting out).

@peachacid: The alterations are about 15% of the total cost of the dress. They will be modifying the design slightly, bringing up the waistline about an inch, lowering the back and deepening the sweetheart. these are all relatively easy alterations. As for SYTD, I wen’t to Kleinfelds and their alterations rate is 800$ and they said if there is anything you don’t like on the dress, we can change it.

edit: I’m also obviously having the dress hemmed, cups put it, and my bustle arranged

@peachacid: No, unfortunately I don’t believe so, but you could definitely inquire! You may be best off looking for a specialized bridal seamstress in your area

For an elaborate bustle, sewn in cups and added beads to the bodice my total cost ws $170.00. Thankfully the hem was just right so I didn’t need any alterations there.
