Our venue allows us to provide our own alcohol for our wedding. We’re planning to have about 125 guests, and are only having wine, champagne, and beer to keep the costs down. It’s going to be a casual (think upscale bbq) evening event in Hawaii. I think most people who are coming to the wedding will drink. So, how do I estimate how much wi to get? I don’t want to run out, but I also don’t want to end up with a ton of leftover stuff. Thanks for any advice!

I grossly overestimated how much alcohol I needed. My wedding was in May and I am still drinking champagne with dinner!

Drink calculators are wonderful! I recommend the evite one that TallBride suggested, as well as these two:
I suggest trying a few different ones. This will give you a better estimate overall, as each calculator will ask different questions and render varying results.

Ask a larger liquor store. They should be able to help you. And if possible, find a place that takes back unopened bottles.

We are getting married at a vineyard and using their wine. They said to estimate about 3/4 a bottle per person. We can also bring in our own beer. Our friends are pretty heavy drinkers, so we are estimating 5 drinks a person and those that don’t have 5 drinks there will be plenty that will have more. We are just guesstimating the wine/beer split.

I saw this on DC Nearlyweds, it helped me alot! I lucked out as my guest count is 80, but I’m sure you can modify the calculations!

How did these calculators work for you ladies?
I just did them for my wedding and The Party Source and The Perfect Party Planner gave me numbers very similar to what I was thinking but Evite wanted me to pretty much double everything!

Those links are SO helpful! Thanks ladies for posting them! I was just talking with Fiance about this issue the other day…he wants double the budget for alcohol that I had planned on having.
I’ll be sure to take these numbers to him and see what he thinks.
