My fiance and I love to go to our local wine country, and instead of doing regular red and white wine through the caterers, we decided to feature entirely local vintages for the wine at our wedding. We tasted dozens of vineyards and picked our two favorite whites and reds (and a chocolate wine with dessert) from some amazing vineyards.
We have to order it by the case from the vineyards — and I’m stumped at how much to order! If you estimate roughly 4-5 glasses per bottle, a case has 48 -60 glasses.
170 adult guests
Evening reception (630-1130)
Full open bar
Any guidance would be very appreciated!

I have heard 2 glasses the first hour, 1 each hour afterwards. Then in winter, slightly more than half want red. With other alcohol, I would divided that number by 3.
That would be 68 bottles, so 6 cases. I would pick the most pinot noir and chardney like wine and get two of those and one of the others. You would have leftovers, so you could always cut out they extra case of white

Hmm, those are really helpful numbers! We picked a one sweeter white, one dry white, one very strong red, and a more muted red. We’re in Virginia, so the varietals for the grapes are different than just a chard or pinot, but we’re getting as close to those as we can! 🙂
