Another post about not drinking for a month got me thinking. I would say I’m a social drinker, but going a month without a drink for me is business as usual. It’s not like I am trying not to drink or have any issues with drinking, I just don’t find myself in situations where I’d have a drink nearly as often. But when I do have a few drinks…I tend to have QUITE a few.
I had one drink on the Fourth of July and the last time I drank before that was New Years Eve. I just realized that now that I am married, I drink far less often than when I was single and hanging out with my friends…when going out for drinks happened most weekends. I guess I never got into the habit of wine with meals. If I drink, its only when socializing…and now that I’m married, I’m far more of a homebody.
So how often do the other Bees drink? What is typical for you? Have your drinking habits changed since you got engaged/married?

I drink more now than I did before we were married. Not sure why, though. :/

i guess you can call me a social drinker. When I go out i like to have a cocktail or two. But I don’t drink everyday. If I have a hard day at work I’ll come home and pur myself a glass of wine..but that is very rare.

Fiance does not drink at all, meaning he is the best dd and date ever! I only occassionally drink. Some months it is a few times a week, sometimes I will go for more than a month without drinking. I never have more than one drink a night, and I often only have half.
I used to go to networking events and nurse one glass of wine all night and only one time did anyone notice. Coworkers would get trashed. But then I used to attend contracting industry events and drink with construction industy/architect/engineering types and it was a pretty heavy male drinking culture.
Mainly I drink at networking events, with friends, or if my back goes out I will have a glass of wine as a muscle relaxer instead of tylenol. I think the reason I drink so little is the cost, the lack of drinking oriented culture (live on the west coast), and the lack of desire.

Well being that I’m 9 months pregnant, I almost can’t recall the days that drinking was allowed. But I’d say I drank at least a glass of wine once every 2 weeks. We tend to have a lot of social events around the holidays and summer time though so I’d say I drank much more often around those times. I’m really not a big drinker aside from drinking socially but I do enjoy the idea of just being able to have a glass and relaxing. I’m the same as you, once I got married my drinking definitely cut down due to not going out with my single friends as often.

Darling Husband and I really like wine and we’ll have a couple of weeks where we’ll go through a bottle every couple of days, but then we won’t open a bottle for a few weeks because we get caught up with other stuff.
I’d say on average we drink a couple of times a month (but in actuallity, some months its none and other months its weekly and everywhere in between).

I’m usually the Dirty Delete, and I probably drink 3 times a year or so. I’m not big on the taste of most alcohol, and for me, food >>>alcohol. Haha. If I’m going to go out and spend $20-$30, I’d rather get a nice meal than 3 or 4 cocktails.

Like PP’s, it really varies month to month depending whats going on. If we go out to a nice restaurant I’ll usually order a glass of wine. If we have guests or go out with friends then I’ll usually have something. But most weekends my Fiance and I dont drink much, if anything. I actually dont remember the last time I was drunk, it was probably over a year ago. And very very very rarely will I have a drink during the week.

I’m surprised at how many people categorize their drinking as a “monthly” thing- definitely weekly for me. I’d say I probably have a drink around 3 times a week. Sometimes its’ just one, sometimes its a lot more, depends what we’re doing. Never hard liquor though.

I used to drink 3 times a week to the point of wasted. Now I only drink like that when I’m on vacation. I’ve slowed down a lot since meeting my Fiance but my ex Fiance was 20-21 while we were together and I’m sure thats why we drank more often lol. I drink maybe once or twice a month now (usually during a holiday bar crawl to save money). I’d drink wine every night with dinner if I could afford it… but I definitely am a vodka lover.

Wine/Beer a few times a week. I’ll have a glass of wine with dinner or a beer on Friday. Darling Husband is a weekend drinker. We both really love wine and craft/micro brews. Hard liquor is much rarer… maybe once or twice a month? I’ll have a vodka tonic if I’m out with friends.

I barely drink, only once in a great while.
I get this weird reaction when I do though.
After a sip or two I start feeling warm and my muscles start feeling weaker.I feel very tired after that one or two sips.
I thought that happens after a few beers or glasses of wine, but I feel like that after only a couple sips.
So because of that I just dont drink hardly ever.

I was once told that there are some people who are not allergic, but are just very sensitive to alcohol. Was told it sounds like I might be one of them.

Saying “I don’t drink alcohol” sounds far more like a grand decision than my realtionship with the beverage. 🙂
I can’t recall the last time it was offered to me. Over a year at least. Most of my friends/family don’t drink. Those who do rarely offer it to me.
I have had a sip of maybe 4 or 5 types. Most were terrible (red and white wine, and champagne), though I’ve had one type of fruity wine that tasted okay. I’ve also had ouzo, which was pretty good actually. Drinking has just never been part of my culture.
