After watching some YouTube comparison vids, the difference is not worth it to me to shell out the extra dough for the F1, but I like the little bit of warmth the FB has so when the time comes I’m going with FB.

I am in the same dilemma. I have picked my ring and 1.5ct size. After speaking with some jewellers and reading posts on here. I am leaning towards the Forever Brilliant because according to a jeweller I spoke with, the Forever Brillant tends to be around the G-H (near colourless) range if compared to a diamond colour scale. From what I have read, the Forever One is around the D-F (colourless) range when compared to the diamond scale. The jeweller said most people she sells to, pick F-H diamonds. I’m not necessarily trying to pass off my moissanite as a diamond (I will tell my close friends and family and anyone that asks) but I would like it to look like a diamond in general. I know they have different qualities but I guess I’m not observant because I bought .5 carat  moissanite studs (classic, not FB or F1) and they look like diamonds to me!

What colour diamonds do you like?

If I were to buy a diamond, I would’ve been more than happy with a G or H colour. I looked at them in the jewellery store and actually preferred the “warmth” of the H diamond so it wouldn’t make sense for us to spend more for whiter than that. If  you prefer whiter diamonds then I would get F1 but otherwise, save the money and still have a white sparkly stone for less $.

lilredcat:  When I read there was to be an F1 update, I was excited to see it [I have a 4ct FB].  But honestly after I saw the F1, I much prefer the color of the FB.  The F1’s are too white for me.  They are gorgeous, but I subscribe to your thought process as well.

Just my 0.02…. I had a 1.5 G, SI1 stone and lost it.  I ordered a FB stone from MoissaniteCo (not knocking there company.. GREAT customer service) and had to send it back the next day because the color difference was so noticable to me.  I don’t know much about the F1 but I do think the FB may be an issue if you are color sensitive.  It definitely didn’t come close to my G diamond.. as far as color was concerned.  If you don’t mind color and aren’t too sensitive, then the FB was still a beautiful stone.  But if you are sensitive… I would go with the F1.  Hope that helps. 🙂  Happy shopping!!

ashleyadair:  thanks for sharing this info! I only spoke with one jeweller and she said FB was in the G-H colour range. Maybe too good to be true. I thought I was set with a FB but hearing that your FB was not even close to an H has me Re-thinking that decision! I wish moissanites were in more jewellery stores so I could just walk in and compare!

lilredcat:  if you like your F colour and are used to it then I would probably go for the F1. It is a bit more but a couple hundred isn’t that much in the long run and you don’t want to be disappointed.

just FYI if you picked a setting with side stones with the Forever One, they are set with diamonds so that can really up the price. If that’s the case, maybe consider looking for a setting you like that has no side stones and it will make it quite a bit cheaper (obviously only if you’d be happy with that!)

I hope everything works out with your partner and you get the ring you want!

Order both and see for yourself. I had a FB to see what all the type was about and it was yellow. Even my Fiance noticed, that’s the first thing he said when I showed him the loose stone. I have a Forever One now and I love it. It’s not “white”, it’s colorless – E color and its crisp and the cut is beautiful hearts & arrow.

In my opinion the forever brilliant moissanite are more like an I-J in color at best and do have some warmth in certain lighting. If you want a truly colorless stone, than the F1 or amora gem ultra would probably be worth it. In the videos I’ve seen, it looks like the F1s have a slight blue tint similar to cz or a diamond with strong fluorescence. But it may have just been the lighting in the video. I use to have a forever brilliant OEC moissanite and it was probably a J-K in color (oec’s show more color than rb’s). I ended up selling it because I wanted an amora gem. I’ve found that G-H color stones, including diamonds are my sweet spot. I’m not a fan of icey white stones, or very warm stones. So you just have to figure out what color range is best for you. To answer your question more directly, yes I absolutely think you will see a noticeable difference between the forever brilliant and F1 moissanite.

Pic for reference. 7.5mm 1.5 carat equivalent oec forever brilliant moissanite, with G-H color diamond side stones (left). 1.65 carat G Vs1 amora gem ultra with G color diamond halo (right)

lilredcat:  if your going with an F1 moissanite than diamond halo and side stones are definitely the best option. The F1s arnt available in such small sizes at the moment, and if you were to get regular moissanite melee I think you would regret it. Also, at that size there isnt much of a price difference between moissanite and diamond, so you wouldnt be saving much money at all. And moissanite melee tends to crack easier when below 2mm in size. You should also consider the chances of losing side stones overtime. Diamond melee is much easier and inexpensive to have replaced by any jeweler, whereas moissanite is not as common and some jewelers won’t even work with it, leaving you with no other option but to send your ring back to moissaniteco and waiting weeks.

I have a 1.5 Round Brilliant moissy set in rose gold and I don’t see very much warmth- certainly not the yellow that other posters have experienced. It’s too dark in my office to get a good picture of it right now, but I can post one later when I go outside.

ETA: I’ve never seen an F1 in person so I can’t offer any side by side opinions.
