    If you stay under your calories you’ll be fine. Just make sure you eat healthy for the rest of the day and don’t let it get you off track.

    I almost always cheat on the weekends. I always think to myself, “what’s more worth it?”. If we go to a bar with friends I can either not drink and be bored the whole time or I can have a glass of wine. Enjoying myself in that moment is worth more to me than saving the calories. I’m tempted much less on weekdays because I’m on a pretty tight schedule of work w/ prepacked lunch, gym, then preplanned dinner. There’s less room for temptation.

    I cheat at least once a week.. I think if you don’t you’d go nuts. But its usually Saturdays going out with friends.. I dont want to have to worry about what I eat/drink then.

    I cheat once a week because I’ve read that your body can get used to a low calorie intake… so some actually say it’s good to “shock” your system once a week so that this doesn’t happen. Now, I don’t go crazy, lol, but I do allow myself something that I typically wouldn’t during the week.. which, also helps with feeling deprived of the favorites 😉

    I checked the last option –  I practice intuitive eating (basically, whatever I want whenever I’m hungry with a little bit of thought given to what makes me feel nourished rather than sluggish and gross) and to me knowing how many calories or how much of any particular nutrient I eat IS cheating, since makes it harder to tell what my body is craving.  It’s totally backwards of what most people do, but I love it – both my habits and my attitude are so much better than when I was restricting.

    When I’m craving something I know I shouldn’t be eating, I try to ask myself WHY I want that.  For example, if I had your craving, my body would be telling me get protein ASAP!

    I usually cheat if I’ve had any wine… my will power is only so strong when wine is involved!

    The only time I usually cheat is on the weekends. During the week everything is pretty planned out so there isn’t as much opportunity!

    I cheat once or twice a week during weekends too.  Like some of the other posters above, my week’s pretty planned out.. thank goodness for that!

    @tranquility: Cheat meals are actually a part of any effective eating plan.  Your body adjusts to deprivation and starts storing fat (survival mode) because it thinks you are starving it.  An occassional jolt of fat and calories kicks it out of that mode, so you are not storing fat.  So think of that burrito as helping your diet.  Just don’t go overboard with the cheat meals, otherwise you sabotage your efforts!

    And this is why I don’t count calories lol.  But seriously, I really don’t stick to a specific diet, maybe I should and I would drop fat more than I do now.
