I do not wear my rings to work, so i clean my rings every few days.  I drop it in a cup of hot water with dawn, use a baby toothbrush to scrub around the stone/prongs then i whip out the jewel jet and steam the crap out of them.  Looks like brand new every time!

pinkcorsage:  showering will take of surface dirt but your soap or body wash will build up in the setting and behind/ under your stones x

To keep your ring clean and fully sparkling I would recommend once a week. Half fill an egg cup with lukewarm water and washing up liquid, leave to soak for about 2mins, then with a baby tooth brush gently scrub round your setting and stones. Then rinse under cold water. Then dry with a bit of kitchen roll. Then polish with a lint free jewellery cloth. X

I’m a little obsessive because I notice the sparkle so much more when my rings are clean, so I clean them about twice a week or whenever I remember. I normally just use a soft toothbrush and dish soap with warm water, so it won’t hurt them any to overdo it.

Does anyone have any tips on how to clean behind the stone on a raised halo? I can never seem to get in there with any brush, no matter how small!

I love my ultrasonic cleaner. It’s a Hagerty? Free from the jeweler when you purchase a ring. Another reason I love our jeweler, lol.

I clean my ring at least 2-3 times a week, nearly every day during the school year. Chalk builds up quick! When I get home, the ring goes into the cleaner set on low while I unpack everything (probably a couple minutes) and then dries in the rack while chores are finished. The ring gets pro cleaned before any major events…once wedding type stuff ends it’ll probably be once a year.

My mom has commented on how sparkly it’s stayed, and I’m not sure she believes me that it’s the cleaner. I’ve been trying to get her to try mine, lol. I think it’s like $20? With a couple packets of cleaning goo that you dilute with water.

Fiance mom works with jewelry and gave me some of the cleaning solution and told me to soak it at least once/month overnight. I hold back from doing it daily. Lol

I have a jeweller who I just adore. He is honest as the day is long and would not mess with me. He suggests soaking my diamond ring in dawn dish detergent and warm water. Clean the crevices with a soft toothbrush. Rinse and dry off with a lint free cloth.

After speaking to a few people online, I decided to ask him about getting an ultrasonic. (I owned one a lifetime ago – but for rings without pave diamonds – and very old technology)

His suggestion was to forego the ultrasonic because of all the pave I have on my rings now. I have to agree. The vibrations, whether on high or low still shake around all those small diamonds and that worries me. I don’t want to mess with perfection.

Having said that, I had no issues years ago with using an ultrasonic, but I cleaned jewellery sans pave.

ETA: Be careful not to “scrub” around prongs. The bristles, no matter how soft, can become lodged in around the prongs and pry a diamond lose.

Whenever it starts looking dirty. So, basically every day/every other day.
