It really depends – I’m more of a cold weather/hot weather eater.  In the summer I often forget.  But now that it’s cold out I eat constantly.  My husband and I both do a lot of long distance running/biking, so it’s expected we’ll need to eat a decent amount, but sometimes it’s crazy because he’ll get full to the point of explosion and I’m still hungry.  Now that it’s cold here I’m trying to figure out how to chill out the appetite.

It’s actually healthier to eat your food in smaller portions like that. I eat in a very similar way, except when I have my day of classes that never end and have to push lunch back to 3. (Which throws me out of whack for the whole day!)

One thing that might help you feel a little more full is to add a snack with a bit more protein – something with peanut butter, cheese, etc. I love the combination of an apple with a little peanut butter.

If we eat meals sporadically – breakfast and then dinner, for example – we eat way more at those meals, and are less likely to eat healthy things because all we can think about is wanting food NOW (and somehow, the “fast” food, even at home, is rarely healthy.)

I don’t eat that often usually due to work/business but I *DO* find myself eating really well for awhile and then falling into a thing of “agh it was a long day and i just dont care righ now” which isn’t good!

🙂 I’ve been good today though

IMO, you are not getting enough protein in the early part of your day. Can you switch it up and have a smoothie with protein powder in the am? I eat 4-5 meals a day as well. I’m a grazer and it works well for me, as long as I’m eating the right things.

I usually eat about 4 sometimes 5 times a day

breakfast either a low fat muffin with ice coffee ( lite with 3 equal)  or just the coffee

sometimes either a yogurt or a granola bar

lunch a salad ..with chicken in it ..makes it more filling

snack ..again either a piece of fruit or yogurt

and 6 ( get out of work at 5) ..we have dinner.. which could be any kind of meat with either vegetable and rice ..

sometimes a snack ..but not alot ..and then i am off to bed ..

Well it doesn’t seem like you’re probably eating that much… you just eat often. Which is healthier…. but I can’t train my brain to believe that. I like feeling FULL. Maybe your body keeps craving food because you never have a big full meal?

The good thing is that what you are eating is healthy.  I’m constantly hungry too.  But my Mother being a nutrionist has made me promise to carry around healthy snacks and eat when I am truly hungry.  And as you do, drink a glass of water beforehand to see if it curbs your hunger.  I think maybe you might need some more healthy proteins, that’s my issue because I don’t eat meat.  And some times I don’t wanna eat nuts!  I would go to the doctor just to check your thyroid, just in case, can’t hurt (well the needle sucks).

There’s no way I eat that often.  I might go nuts.  But it almost sounds like you need more protien.  I eat a really high protien diet with low carbs.  And yes, so days all I want is a pot (yes a pot) full of mashed potatoes.  But we can all splurge.  Maybe with a weeny pot 🙂

hmm… I think it depends on the day for me… During school I will eat a small breakfast since my tummy usually doesnt like food in the morning, and some coffee or juice. Then, unless I am super hungry, I have some snacks and then me and my FH eat a big dinner about 6… There are days that I will eat 5x and days that I will only eat once.. I know that it is bad, I am in school for health..hehe… but I only eat when I am hungry…
