Sometimes, but rarely. However I do love how my stone is set high, as if its suspended, which you only see from the side.

I have to imagine that I can’t be in the minority on this, but due to the nature of normal hand positioning, I usually see my ring and other people’s rings from a sort of half-top down, half-side view. About a 45 degree angle, I guess? Not exactly, but it’s much more often sort of half-side, half-top, than completely flat top down or completely flat side view.

@ladyamalthea:  My DH said the side view contributed a lot to his decision to get my ring.  I LOVE the sideview and would always notice and admire it from that angle… until I got married.  Now the sideview is completely blocked by my wedding band so the sideview is irrelevant.

I think it really just depends on if there is any difference between the views. Fiance designed my ring so he was all about how it looked from every angle. At the last second, I asked the jeweler to add a surprise stone in honor of my Fiance, so I’m always looking at it.

I definitely notice the ring from the top down most of the time, but it was chosen in part because of the profile. And I often see the ring from the top/side, so I would be able to easily see if the cathedral shoulders of my ring didn’t almost meet the stone and didn’t just barely taper at the top. The profile, although mine isn’t elaborate, would have been a deal-breaker for me, especially because it determines how my wedding band sits against my ER.

I never thought about it or notice it.  I didn’t even know it was such a big deal until I saw all the detailed side views on the bee.

I definitely took it into consideration when we were buying it, but I don’t notice the side view *that* often.

I hardly ever notice the side view, except when I’m showing people my setting!

I love the side view of my ring and it played a huge part in picking it out. I notice it all the time – especially when I’m driving or typing at work. It actually makes me sad that the matching wedding band will partially hide the side view (from my viewpoint anyway). But oh well! If I miss the view I can just look at it from the front!

@ladyamalthea:  I LOVE my side view! I see it typing at work all the time.  And the wedding band will have the matching side view so that I will always have the side view I love. 🙂

@ladyamalthea:  I’m not engaged, but I will comment from the perspective of my RHR. I notice my side view ALL THE TIME. It’s probably because I’m always doing things with my hands.

@ladyamalthea:  I noticed mine all the time, because it was my dream setting.  Not my dream diamond.  The scroll work was non-negotiable.  The jeweller tried to talk me out of having the scroll work on my wedding bands to save money since it is hand carved, but I wasn’t having none of that lol.
