Honestly, people who workout, or move heavy objects with any kind of ring on are just waiting to have their finger taken off. I’ve seen it happen too many times to friends. It gives me nightmares.
My friend, who’s a jeweler said that the most common reasons for people losing the stone in their ring are:
So WHY would you sleep with your ring on knowing that it’s the most common way to lose your stone? I just don’t get it.

I only ever take my rings off for cleaning, cooking/baking (if I am mixing with my hands) or applying cream etc.

Well, I used to take my ring off to shower, do dishes, and clean. Now, it’s stuck! I got sizing beads because it was always twisting and turning but now it’s too tight! So it hasn’t come off in months, which I’m not very happy about.

I take it off when showering, dishes, cleaning the house, working out, etc.
I’m also so excited to get my wedding band so I can wear that all the time, and not my e-ring. I just feel so bad when I bang it on something or get it dirty.

This may be totally crazy to some people – but I actually purchased a “fake ring” ($30 at Nordies) which I wear when I am doing something dirty, like swimming or hiking, or anything rough with my hands. I also travel for work and do not bring my ring on business trips, i bring my fake ring. Also, I went overseas and definitely wore the fake instead.
It comes in quite useful!

LadyAprill: I only take my ring off when I’m doing the dishes, cleaning, and showering. Other than that rarely!

Steampunkbride: I’m sentimental too, so I will probably never take my band off either! I want a metal band without stones, so I think I’ll feel waaaay more comfortable leaving it on 🙂
bbbria: You sound just like me! I’m afraid that i’ll scratch myself or my fiance if I sleep in it!
Thanks ladies for assuring me that I’m NORMAL!!

I take my ring off when I come home in the evening. I feel weird wearing jewelry in the house! Lol.

I take mine off to sleep, cook anything messy in the kitchen that would involve ground food or dough in my milgrain or diamonds, to shower if it’s middle of the day… If I’m just swollen and uncomfortable, etc…

I wear my plain wedding band 99% of the time. I love it & can’t tell that I have it on. I wear my e-ring as a RHR on occasion. Before the wedding, I’d take the e-ring off to sleep, cook, and put lotion on. I also had to sort-of take it off to dry my hands after washing, because it seemed to chafe. I don’t have thatproblem with my band.

I wear mine to work during the day or when I go out places (grocery store, dinner, visiting friends, etc). I really don’t wear them much otherwise (at home, working out, etc). So usually I am not wearing them at home but do everywhere else (except the gym or exercising outside).

lorakath: when i first got engaged, i treated my engagement ring like an egg. now (about 7 months after the wedding), i NEVER take my rings off. i’m also 4.5 months pregnant which means my chance of taking them off and forgetting to put them back on is increased by 90%. lol so yeah, i shower in them, cook, wash dishes, etc. i only take them off to wash my hair (sometimes), and every once in a while to lotion my tummy (the lotion is really thick).
