I have curly hair, so it works best for me if I wash my hair twice a week. Any more often, and I have an afro, any less often and it gets greasy.

I love that you started this.  Right now I wash every day but would like to change that because I have the same issues you mentioned.  However – I still have some questions — when you are first “training” your hair, is it really greasy on days 2 and 3?  I have baby fine hair that shows grease easily.  Also, how does this work with working out?  I do bikram yoga several days a week which results in totally soaking wet (with sweat) hair.  Would I shampoo after, or just rinse?  If anyone has experience I would love to get some feedback.

I have curly hair and it’s super super dry. I wash it once a week with sulphate free shampoo, but condition is every second day in the shower. If I wash more than that, my scalp gets so dry and itchy.

About once a week, sometimes less. I have very thick, dry, coarse, curly hair that is somewhere between bra-strap and waist in length. If I were to wash my hair more than once a week, I would be dry, frizzy and would start to get breakage and my scalp gets super itchy. I also try to deep condition at least every other week.

My hair has gotten so much softer in the years since I stopped washing it all the time. Its much more manageable now.

I shampoo every other day. I’d consider spacing them out more, but my hair very fine, and already gets very greasy on the day I skip. Once a week after I shampoo I rinse it with vinegar. I shield my eyes and dump about a 1/4 of regular white vinegar on it, leave it on for a minute or two and rinse. I’ve heard apple cider vinegar is better, smellwise, but as for the smell, my hair does smell faintly of vinegar while it’s wet, but once it’s dry I can’t smell it, and my hair is very shiny and soft.

I try to wash it every couple of days but it pretty much works out to twice a week. My hair is pretty wavy/curly but i hate how my hair looks the day of washing, but that could be cause i don’t really style it till has fully air dried out. My best hair days usually follow on the second and third days after washing but then start to get greasy by day four so its time for a wash. I use a dry shampoo in between washes if I need my hair to be manageable/nice for an extra day or two.

@Mrs Grape: I was skeptical when I first read about it, but after giving it an initial try I’m a convert.

EDIT: It’s supposed to help get rid of any product buildup in your hair.

i rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar weekly! makes my hair incredibly soft and shiny, works wonders for my scalp too! but yes, it does smell something terrible until my hair is dry.

I have done many different things with my hair.  Right now I am washing it once a week with sulfate free organic shampoo – it is really long, so it gets super dry – and stays dry for … 2-3 days (I mean- non greasy on top when I say “dry”).  I also use a super heavy repair conditioner and that works wonders – I leave it in at least 10 minutes.  Depending on what is going on in my week, sometimes I wash it twice a week, but never more than every other day.

My hair is a greasy disaster if I don’t shampoo and condition daily. If I leave the house, I wash my hair.
