Once every few months… can’t help it, I always need to know if it still fits or how tight it’s getting!! LoL

I have only tried on my dress once since buying it (for alterations) but I did put on the sample at the store I bought it at while trying to pick a veil several months later.

I’d be afraid of snapping the zipper or messing something else up if I tried it on just for the heck of it. That would be just my luck!

Edit: oh… “only at fittings” was not available as a choice when I voted, so pretend that one of the “once or twice” answers is in the “only at fittings” answers.

mine came in the first week of April, and I went to try it on that week. I’ll probably try it on for my mom when she comes to visit in June, then I won’t try it on again (probably) until fittings start on September 2nd. the salon is holding it for me, so luckily that keeps me from going in and trying it on too much. πŸ˜‰

@leahlou:  Well another factor is that since I live with my fiance, my dress “lives” with a bridesmaid πŸ˜› So there really isn’t opportunity anyway.

My dress lives in my hometown. Good thing as I’d want to put it on once a week. I wont’ see it again till Christmas!

This confuses me…my dress has been in the shop since March, but I don’t ever bring it at home…it stays there for alterations. Why do so many people have their dresses at home? Is it because alterations were done early? I’m not picking my dress up until a week before the wedding….and I’ll probably try it on 20 times a day that week cause I’m le crazy.

I’ve had mine for like, a year, and have only put it on at fittings. My fiance is home most of the time and doesn’t want to see me in it until the wedding day. I’ve had no real desire to try it on anyway, it’s big and poofy and I hate trying on clothes, so all that effort is really off putting to me.

I tried mine on when I picked it up in December and then 2 more times since then until my first fitting last week so 3. πŸ™‚ I was having a tad bit of dress regret so I put it on and realized I loved it! Can’t wait to put it back on when my alterations are done!

I think trying it on is a very risky thing to do. I would definitely go take a peek every now and then, but I never touched it let alone tried it on. Just the oils from your skin can damage the dress.

@whitums:  Not all shops do alterations in house. The first time I got married, my dress stayed at the salon where alterations were done. The second time, the shop’s alterations were too expensive ($495 flat fee), so I took it home and had it altered locally for about $300.

My dress stays at my parents’ house, so I put it on everytime I stop by πŸ™‚

@MxH13:  YES!!!! That’s me, too!! Plus animals occasionally stepping on the train as their dog and cat are equally as enamored as I am with my dress.
