I’m newly engaged (April 1 proposal) and I still can’t get used to wearing my ring. I’m not really a jewelry person and that is the only jewelry I wear, and it is much harder to get used to than I expected it to be.
I make a point to wear it when we are going to see people (friends/family) though sometimes Fiance has to remind me. When we’re just hanging out, I usually don’t wear it. I try to remember to put it on when I’m leaving the house, but I forget maybe 40-50% of the time. It’s definitely safe and lives in the box it came in on the bedside table, so it’s not like I put it in places and then forget it.
I always take it off when I go to sleep, shower, wash my hands, cook, or write.
My Fiance doesn’t seem to mind, though he does remind me to put it on if we are going out and will be seeing people. But other people I’ve been around (like my mom) have been shocked at how much I don’t wear it. She is of the school of thought that you NEVER take off your engagement ring.
I helped pick the ring out and I LOVE it, it is gorgeous and sparkly but still relatively modest (though I feel like it’s HUGE when I’m wearing it – the center stone is .6 carats) I just can’t get used to wearing it all the time. Any other bees have this issue? How long did it take you to get used to wearing a ring?
