I am 6′ tall and have been since I was probably 13 years old. I slept in a twin bed through college, thank goodness for those dorm room extra longs!! I had a king size bed with my ex bf when I was in my senior year of college and it was magical!!! I’ve had a queen for years now but want to upgrade back to king soon. I love my Fiance but I also love my space when I’m sleeping!

I had a twin bed until I moved out and bought my own.

I had a queen bed at home, but I slept in a twin until I was around 7 or so. My parents got a king bed so I got the queen and my brother got the twin bed I had. I slept in a twin bed through college. FH slept in a twin bed until we moved in together, so I don’t think there’s a cut off age for a twin bed.

I slept in a twin until I was about 12 or 13. One of my birthday gifts was to redo my room – new furniture, new paint, I got to pick a new carpet color, etc. so that is when I upgraded to a full size. A lot of my friends had twins until they went to college. Living in the dorms I slept in a twin. I don’t think its a big deal really.

I had a twin until I was about 13. Then I got a full. I will say that this was the norm for my friends and I growing up. For some reason all of the girls I knew had at least full size beds, while a lot of the guys slept on twins until they moved out of their parents homes.
That said, I guess you can never truly be too old for a twin. Thats what I slept on in my college dorm.

Both my Fiance and I grew up sleeping in a twin. We both got a double when we moved out for school at 18. I’m not really sure how you can be “too old” for a twin bed aha

You’re too old when you’re sharing the bed with someone. Otherwise a twin is fine even into adulthood.

I slept in a twin all the way until I got married at age 26… and I still sleep in a twin when I go visit my parents (my Darling Husband sleeps in my sister’s old twin bed, we shared a room 😉
Honestly the “huge beds” thing is part of the McMansion mindset of the last 3 or 4 decades. It’s a massive waste of resources and space.
If you go to Europe, Asia, South America – pretty much anywhere non-USA – you’re not going to see too many adults in big beds, let alone kids! In some of these places the whole family crowds into ONE big bed.
Bottom line I don’t think you’re ever too old for a twin!

I slept in a twin until I bought my own queen bed. I think I was 23.

@Ninteenthchance: nope, her kid is normal size. it was definitely due to his age, she thinks being a teen means you have to go up a size.

I slept on a twin bed through college, and until I met my hubby (around 27). I couldn’t afford an ungrade, and twin beds a so much easier to move!

@kerensa: hi, I’m 22 and I sleep in a twin :p I’m also only 5’0 so it’s no big deal. I think it depends on 1.size of kid 2.finances 3. Size of room. obviously a 5’5 12 yr old needs a bigger bed before he/she hits a growth spurt.

If you sleep alone, a twin is all that is needed!

This the first I’ve heard of this. Sounds like a load of crap to me. And folks wonder why these kids grow up coodled and entitled.

I think you’re not really ever too old to sleep in a twin bed! I was OBSESSED with Trading Spaces (a redecorating show) when I was 16 so for my birthday, my parents let me get a new bed and redecorate my room (well, paint my room lol). I got a full size bed, that is now the bed my husband and I have 10 years later! I’d love to have a queen bed one day… a full size bed for 2 people and a dog is a little small!
