I was flower girl at my cousin’s wedding when I was around 5 or 6. I wasn’t invited to many weddings with my parents when I was younger. I went to a few ceremonies but rarely the dinner and dance portion. I went to my cousin’s wedding in a different town when I was around 9 or 10. The next one was when I was around 14.

I was 4 and I was a flower girl for a family friend’s wedding. I can remember walking down the aisle and then playing on a swing because apparently I got bored during the long mass and wouldn’t sit still.

I’ve never been to a wedding, so the first one I will go to will be my own.

@HonoraryNerd: It depends on if the question is “attended as a guest” or “was in as part of the bridal party.” I was a flowergirl in my first wedding when I was nearly 3, but the first wedding I attended as a guest I was 25.

I was 5 1/2. It was my godmother’s wedding and it was in Trinidad. I remember that nobody (including the bride or groom) seemed particularly happy and the reception music was EXTREMELY loud and interfered with my nap. Also, there was a very cool huppa/trellis/shelter type structure made of interlaced palm leaves (or maybe banana leaves?) that I was obsessed with. Also, I was allowed to help with the decorations! I braided crepe paper for streamers and hung them on the backs of chairs. Man, did I ever feel important! (that said, I hope my niece feels equally important ’cause I’m putting her little self to work too)
