I was in my Teens and in Uni when I met my First Husband.  We got married 3 years later.  And were married for 20+ Years.

I was in my mid 40s when I met Mr TTR, he is 10 years older than I.

Being older we KNEW OURSELVES better and what it was we WANTED OUT OF LIFE … so we pretty much knew right away that our Relationship was special.

BUT because we were both Encores, and gun-shy about Marriage… we were very very cautious… so it was 6+ Years before we got Engaged.  We got married just after our 7th year together.

Statistically… most people nowadays still marry in their 20s, but they are doing it later than they were 30+ years ago when I was married the first time.

    As per Statistics Canada (1981 & 2011 Census Info) = http://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2011/as-sa/98-312-x/2011003/fig/fig3_3-2-eng.cfm

In 1981 People between 20 and 24 almost 40% were in a “Conjugal Relationship” (Married or Living together) with just under 10% Married

In 1981 People between 25 and 29 approx 70% were in a “Conjugal Relationship” with just under 10% Married

In 2011 People between 20 and 24 approx 15% were in a “Conjugal Relationship” with just over 10% Married

In 2011 People between 25 and 29 under 50% were in a “Conjugal Relationship” with approx 25% Married

In 1981 Women were typically 23 when they Married and Men were 25

In 2008 Women were typically 29 when they Married and Men were 31

In the UK numbers for Women are similar according to the Office of National Statistics

In the USA numbers for 2011 show that Women are typically 26 and Men are 28 when they Marry.

From what I’ve seen on WBee the numbers are pretty much on the money… with the highest percentage of Women on the Boards probably being between the age of 25 and 30.

Where or When these Bees met their Future Husbands seems to be a wide mix… altho considering most seem to be saying they’ve dated 5 years or longer, I would WAGER A GUESS that most met AFTER HIGH SCHOOL

And in that sense things haven’t changed a great deal in the world… as that would be exactly where most Brides 30+ years ago met their Husbands as well.. either away at College / Uni or when starting their careers.

    Hope this helps

@worldtraveler:  FH and I met when I was 20 and he was 21.  We started dating at 21 and 22.  I think I fall into a relatively common category on the bee, except I was waiting for 8.5 years for my proposal (okay, I was waiting for 6.5 years, we were together for 8.5).
