                   Me       Him

Dating:         20        21

Engaged:      25        26

Married:        26        27

I have friends though that got married when we were 22, they dated through high school and they are still very happily married.  Everyone is ready at different times, I think the variety of ages and dating/engagement times on here can show that to you.  I know I definitely would not have been ready at 22, whereas my friends WERE ready at 22.

The Fiance is a year older than I am.  We met when I was 23, got engaged 2 years later when I was (am) 25 and I will be 26 when we get married, almost exactly 3 years after meeting.

We’re the same age so..

Met & Started Dating at age 18, engaged at age 23, and will be married at age 24.

Still younger than most of our group of friends though, only two of them have gone before us.

My So and I met when he was 24, I was 21— we will be engaged when I am 23 and he is 25 or 26 (depending on if he does it before or after his dec. 7th bday) and were thinking I’ll be 24 going on 25 when we get married and he’ll be 27.

Don’t feel bad everyne has their own age for everything. I had my first kiss at 13, but didn’t have my first real bf til I was 20, and I had never gone on a real date either..my first and only bf and I have been together for two years, and are looking to get engaged, but I want to go to law school..if I do I won’t finish til I’m about 26-27..and who knows if our finances allow us to be married or engaged by then …most important thing is what is RIGHT FOR YOU at whatever age…

don’t worry about being judged, you learn to ignore it. i know i’m a good target for a lor of ridicule, but i’m over it. i just want to be happy and talk to other females about weddings.

Met: me 18 him 19

Started dating: me 20 him 21

Got engaged: me 21 him 22

Married: me 23 him 24

My family was totally not supportive at first and was the source of many hurt feelings on my end throughout most of our engagement, but TOTALLY came around just before the wedding and was wonderful at the big event. Now it’s like they never disapproved in the first place! Just do what you think is best and your family will come around. Check out my young-ish bride posts if you need to know you’re not alone 😉

Honestly, there is no right way to do things. Just as long as you’re comfortable with your choice. It sometimes happens for the oldest children that their families just hadn’t realized that their oldest has become an adult. Time sneaks up on people!

For what it’s worth:

Met: At 13 going on 14 (first day of 9th grade)

Started dating: 18 (end of first year university)

Got engaged: Me 22, Him 21 (he turned 22 a few days later)

Getting Married: Just a few weeks shy of our 23rd birthdays

You’re not crazy! Only you know what works for you. Some people won’t understand your choices, but that’s why it’s your relationship and not thiers. 🙂

Met: me 11 him 14

Started dating: me 19 him 23

Got engaged: me 21 him 24

Married: me 22 him 26

(we are 3.5 years apparent, so sometimes (depending on the month) we look to be 3 years apart, while other times we look to be 4 years apart)

Fi was 19 when he asked me to marry him, and I was 21. We were engaged 4 months after dating. EVERYONE thought we were crazy. When we get married, I will be 23 and Fi will be 21.

I think its perfectly fine to be married at a young age. I think it’s perfectly fine to be married at an old age.. whenever it happens it happens.

Everyone is pretty excited about the wedding now though, at first our friends and families were shocked. My dad was worried that a younger guy couldn’t prvide fo rme (who believes in that stuff anyway!?) and my mom thought marriage would ruin my plans for grad school (a-hem, applying right now). Obiously, it’s all getting worked out!!

It will get better!! It’s shocking to alot of people in the beginnning, but they come around when they realize how serious you are.
