I’m trying to decide on whether or not I should add more photography time so I sent an email to my photographer for her input on the schedule and how much time she felt she needed. I haven’t heard anything back from her, but it’s only been a couple of days. What’s the typical response time for a photographer to get back to you?
After our first meeting 2 months ago, she had promised to get back to me with some info and never did. I wrote it off to the fact that she was sick and maybe forgot. I’m hoping that this isn’t a trend.

We haven’t had any issues, two or three days max- but he is a newer phootographer who left a larger company to start his own business about a year ago.

Mine got back to me the same day as I emailed her, within an hour or two, sometimes right away.

My photographer is great, but she is really slow in getting back to emails – it usually takes her a week, sometimes even more. It was a bit annoying at first but she always gets back to me, and she does amazing work. I put it up to her being exceptionally busy, especially doing the wedding season.

My experience (and nearly EVERYONE else that I have talked to) has been that photographers are typically slow at responding. It has been a BIG pet peeve of mine! Especially if its just a “part-time” gig!

it depends. sometimes mine will respond 2 seconds later and im wondering how he read the email and typed a response so fast. and other times it can take him up to a week.

Within a day. She’s so on top of my things that it makes me jealous!

Mine varies from half an hour to a week. She’s busy and has a lot of clients. Also, it depends on the day of the week that I email. Tue & Wed she gets back to me much more quickly than if I email on Friday – Monday. If it takes more than two weeks I’d get concerned, otherwise, it’s probably okay.

She takes a few days usually.

Ours usually takes 2-3 days.

Ours got back to us within 48 hours. But usually it was less than a day. I’d send them another email or call if it’s been more than 3 days.

@mtbikelover: within the day. i’ve heard back within 24 hrs from every single email i have sent to every vendor.

As a professional we try to get back to our clients in 24-48 hours, but we also get a lot of emails and sometimes things slip through the cracks. There are also times when we have to prioritize our time – we may be on shoots, editing photos, or in meetings.

@continuumphotography: +1 I say 2 business days.
@mtbikelover: Also, it’s bad, but sometimes we can’t remember which info we’ve sent to which client. I have to write everything down! (Like, “send mtbikelover info on timelines”) So it could be that she thought she’d sent it to you, but remembered that she had sent it to someone else around the same time.
Lately, I’ve been taking my time responding, because I used to be attached to my phone and computer and my husband had to talk me off the technology ledge 🙁 So now I try to only answer emails during the day and not on weekends. I try to always have an away message when I’m traveling so people know that it might take me more time.
Also, I’ve had people tell me they sent me emails, and they never show up. So it might not be her fault. I’d give her a call and say, “hey, hadn’t heard from you, just wanted to see if you got my email.”
